Born with a broken heart

I heard this song from @damianodavid recently, and I cannot get it out of my head! I instantly had this idea - a heartbreak in reverse, using some signature techniques of mine.

I hope you'll enjoy it!

Here are some cranes from my East meets East collection - a handful of designs that combine traditional motifs from Romania (where I'm from) and Japan.

I really enjoyed doing the research for this project and I remember very vividly just how long each one of these took to finish! But as usual, it was a great pleasure to bring them to life!

This is an ongoing project and I am definitely adding some new pieces to the collection this year! (And as most of my work, these are available for purchase, just drop me a message if any of them are of interest!)

Have a lovely Sunday!

Wings and angels are another big source of inspiration for me! I love studying the anatomy of birds' wings but also the depiction of angels in art - classic or modern.
Of course, I also love using my imagination when it comes to the appearance of angels and I try to "translate" that into my work.

I have always been fascinated by the idea of flying (hence my artist name). And I suppose creating my cranes is the next best thing to actually being able to fly!

«And I am in an aviary
Birds are singin' over me
An ancient looping melody
"I love you 'til the death of me"»

I like to think that each one of us has a at least one thing that they can see and enjoy and look at in awe again and again, without ever getting tired of it! For me, it's wings! Hence my obsession of capturing at least a glimpse of their beauty in my own way.

I have more feathers for you. And very likely my most listened to song of the year!
Enjoy!

Something in the way you feel

A paper heart I am very fond of! I spent several hours cutting out each element with my scalpel and voilà! I should create more hearts!

Sharing another one of these since the cursed algorithm seems to like them.

Mocha Absolu

I love a fragrance that proves me wrong! And the newly released Mocha Absolu from @parfumsdusita did just that when I got to smell it earlier this year.
You know maybe by now that I am not the biggest fan of gourmand fragrances. So when I saw the word "mocha" in the name of this fragrance, I was apprehensive.

But then I smelled it. And I really liked it! Then I sprayed it on my skin and I loved it!
Mocha Absolu is a "neo-gourmand", or a fragrance that transcends this category of delicious, sweet, edible, indulgent creations!
But here is what I smell: cacao powder, a whisper of coffee, a refined nuttiness that is more earthy than...nutty. And there is (my favourite part) a complex dark greenness that takes this fragrance into uncharted territory.

I wanted to somehow illustrate the Thai tea accord in Mocha Absolu with this video. So I cut out a silhouette of the bottle, and out of that I cut out a delicious cup of Thai tea! I hope you will like my playful tribute to this beautiful fragrance!

Another look at a crane I made a few months ago. It was inspired by a gorgeous Schiaparelli robe/dress from their Fall/Winter 2024 Haute Couture collection.

There were wings and there were feathers, so of course I was drawn to it like a magpie! 🤭 I used a beautiful metallic silver paper and a black paper, and I love how the silver paper catches the light here!

This rascal has "gone missing" again. Thankfully we have gotten used to her new schedule of coming and going.

I am relieved, in a strange way, that she has found her flock and that she gets to spend more time with them. I am selfish and I still hope she will come back, at least to check in every now and then.

Cioruța, get your fluffy butt back home!
