From agreements to action, the 4th IICCS Forum 2026 marked key milestones in advancing CCS collaboration and deployment.

The Forum witnessed two strategic MoU signings: between ICCSC and IDCTA on CCS and carbon trading, and between ICCSC and the University Education Technology Research Support Center of National Korea Maritime and Ocean University Industry on low-carbon development and infrastructure.

It also became the stage for the announcement of bp and Mitsubishi Research Institute’s selection by Japan’s NEDO to support the Ofaweri Gas Field Decarbonisation using Tangguh CCUS project under the Joint Crediting Mechanism (JCM).

These milestones reflect how collaboration at IICCS Forum is being translated into concrete steps toward advancing CCS development. Swipe through to see the milestones.

Beyond Emissions Reduction 🌱

The role of CCS is evolving. It is not only about reducing emissions from today’s industries, but also about enabling tomorrow’s low-carbon economy.

By supporting lower-carbon products, new infrastructure, skilled jobs, and emerging value chains, CCS can turn decarbonization into new opportunities for industrial growth and competitiveness.

The future of industry is not just about producing less carbon. It is about building more value from the transition.

During her opening speech at The 4th IICCS Forum 2026, Belladonna Troxylon Maulianda, Executive Director of ICCSC, highlighted Indonesia’s growing CCS momentum, from around 19 CCS/CCUS projects to an estimated 600 gigatons of underground storage capacity. She emphasized that this potential could support Indonesia’s domestic emissions for up to 1,000 years while also opening opportunities for regional collaboration with countries such as Singapore, Japan, and Korea. Indonesia’s vast storage potential is positioning the country to play an increasingly important role in advancing CCS across the region.

The 4th International & Indonesia CCS Forum 2026 @iiccs.forum, held on August 26-27, 2026, at Mulia Hotel, Jakarta, was a pivotal success. Focused on advancing Indonesia’s CCS project deployment through Policy Alignment, Regional Collaboration, and the Carbon Economy, the event brought together over 1,800 participants. This premier platform featured 49 speakers and delegates from 10 countries engaging in robust dialogues across 4 Plenary, 4 Concurrent, and 4 Special Sessions.

The forum delivered major milestones, including the launch of the “CCS Lintas Batas untuk Aktivasi Pasar Domestik” collaborative publication by Pertamina Hulu Energi and the Indonesia CCS Center (ICCSC). Key international advancements were also announced, such as Japan’s NEDO selecting bp and the Mitsubishi Research Institute (MRI) for the Ofaweri Gas Field Decarbonisation project, alongside the signing of strategic MoUs on low-carbon development and carbon trading with Korea Maritime & Ocean University and the Indonesia Carbon Trade Association. As highlighted during the event, with approximately 19 CCS/CCUS pre-projects and 600 GT of underground CO₂ storage capacity, Indonesia is equipped to accommodate 1,000 years of domestic emissions.

Let’s keep the momentum going and continue shaping the future of CCS in Indonesia and beyond.

We extend our deepest gratitude to all sponsors, stakeholders, and participants for their invaluable support in making the 4th IICCS Forum 2026 a remarkable milestone.
