Yesterday a group of Indigenous Women from @ice_out_ofla organized a Rally & Native Prayer Vigil for the people being kidnapped & interned by ICE, at the Downtown Los Angeles Federal Building. The Indigenous women danced & prayed for the detainees, protestors & for all people who are suffering right now. Representatives from the Gabrielilno Tribe of Los Angeles came to demand ICE leave LA & California immediately. The energy of the day shifted when the LAPD came in force. One moment people were dancing, smiling and happy. And the next, dozens of Marines come running out in riot gear and then they lined up in formation with ICE agents. Against the American People. In the face of tyranny, the Indigenous Women kept dancing, drumming and praying. But they were later kettled and dispersed. The man unlawfully arrested is a member of the Aztec community of LA. By all accounts the man didn’t do anything to deserve to be arrested, much less violently arrested. He says their case sets a dangerous precedent for anyone who does Rapid Response or records ICE in public nationwide. Sully was one of the OG Occupiers from the Occupy ICE LA camp. She is one of the few that lived at the camp 24/7 and stood on the frontlines every single day! It has been one year of I.C.E. in Los Angeles.
