Just blowin’ off steam on these old 90’s smokey chrome @pearl_drums Session Series tubs. They sound so good for that big 90’s rock thing. And @paistecymbals makes the most beautiful, musical cymbals on the planet. That’s all. #goodshare #iphoneaudio by @icelikesdrums

I’m a terrible musician. But one thing I started doing earlier this year was just sitting down at my piano, staring out the window and then putting my hands on the keys and seeing what comes out. It caused amazing growth in me, even at 43. I mean, I wasn’t coming up with anything earth shattering, but just finding simple chord progressions or melodies was fun. Nothing is original anymore so I’m sure this sounds like a hundred other things, but I messed with this one a while back and kinda forgot about it. Remembered it today and it just sounded kinda Fall-ish to me. Anyway, nobody cares, but this app is littered with negative crap so I’m just trying to leave something pleasing. Carry on. #goodshare #idontplaykeys by @icelikesdrums

Morning walk finds…
Also, if you haven’t ever listened to any of @shawnfic solo records, do yourself a favor and check them out. I find many of his beautiful tunes to be very hypnotic and meditative. by @icelikesdrums

From a few weekends ago with @ryan.mcvay and the Frequent Flyers. I look forward to these shows every year. @ryan.mcvay was such a formative force in my development as a musician when I was younger and he continues to be. He’s truly become like the brother I never had. So much fun to incorporate some other long time friends this year too. @cornontheig is another brother to me. Our hearts beat to the music in the same way. @hannahgracegallagher and I have been friends since kindergarten. Literally. I hadn’t heard her sing in so long. We were in our very first band together waaaay back in 7th grade. How far we’ve come! And the most unsung hero of them all, Andrea McVay. Who also has a killer voice! And she puts up with everyone crashing at her house for days on end and playing xbox till the wee hours like we’re teenagers, and cooks some amazing meals and feeds us all. Anyway, good share. And yes, big drum kits are freakin’ FUN. Fight me. @paistecymbals @vicfirth @pearl_drums by @icelikesdrums

Set this kit up out of the blue this afternoon. Just finished playing through Pearl Jam’s Ten, because ya know, it seemed appropriate. Such a fantastic record. Don’t forget to have fun when you play drums. Go back to what got you fired up in the first place. I have to remind myself of that every now and then. It’s a gift. Yeah, my studio’s messy. So what? Wanna fight about it? #goodshare #drums #drumming #pearljam by @icelikesdrums

Drums for the gram. Played this kit the last two weekends with @ryan.mcvay and the Frequent Flyers. Late 90’s @pearl_drums Prestige Session Select. Teal Blue finish. 22,10,12,13,16. 14x6.5 Bronze Sensitone main snare. 14x6.5 Steel snare (low and fat) and 10x4 Maple snare. Original ICON rack. And of course, all @paistecymbals - 14” Dark Energy Hats, 20” Signature Fast Crash, 18” Dark Energy Crash, 10” Signature Reflector Splash, 22” Signature Mellow Ride, 19” Dark Energy Crash, 18” Signature Thin China. This kit absolutely rips and is so much fun to play. DRUMS. YAY! by @icelikesdrums

Remembered that I had these stashed away on my phone. From when I did a short stint with @francescamusic Hard to believe this was 10 years ago! Killer band too! With @cornontheig @benowensguitar @jbrandonowens @sirlukemoseley and @kileyphillipsmusic Pretty sure everyone (or their spouse) was pregnant on this tour haha. Fun times and good people! by @icelikesdrums

Post session noods. Fell into this thing - sorta like a Mikkey Dee or Jimmy DeGrasso thing I guess. Trying to play it leading with both the right foot and then the left foot. Nothing about this is perfect. I’m sucking at big time. Still working on it. But ya know, here it is. Sorry for the iphone audio, I don’t wanna spend my days editing audio and video together. by @icelikesdrums

Been using this hybrid setup (Yamaha Tour Custom Maple kick and Gretsch toms) this past week at the home studio for a fun project with my doctor who also happens to be a stellar bluegrass picker @justinreno4. Look for it soon. Gonna be cool! @gretschdrums @paistecymbals @vicfirth @remopercussion @yamahadrumsofficial by @icelikesdrums

11 years. 11 years is a long time, especially in the world of the touring musician. I’ve made the decision that 2025 will be my last year touring with @davidnail The fact that he has trusted me to be his drummer for 11 years and his bandleader for the last two (a job I’m still not sure I was qualified for but did to the best of my ability) speaks volumes about the kind of loyal person he is. This was not an easy decision to make and as much as I know it was the right one, it’s still bittersweet. Not only have I been able to watch David grow as an artist in my time with him, but also as a husband and father. He’s been a great boss and become a good friend in the process. It was my privilege to play for him. Here’s to seeing what 2026 brings! by @icelikesdrums
