My final race week as a paid pro…25 years ago. And on this day September 11th, I woke up in Vail, Colorado to my dad blasting the TV. I was annoyed, I just wanted to sleep in. Then I saw what was on the screen, and everything shifted.
That week was the @uci_mountainbike world champs, and there was so much grief that week, but also so much beauty. At the opening ceremonies, every country carried an American flag alongside their own. I still get chills thinking about it. For a few days, we were all just one.
Kindness showed up everywhere. A woman I met in a gift shop, who saw I had a mini-schnauzer just like the painting she was selling, found me in the pits after my race on Saturday and gave it to me. It still hangs in my home today.
I capped off that final race with a Bronze medal. But what I remember most is the way people came together in the middle of so much darkness.
25 years later, I’m thinking of everyone we lost, the families still missing them, and the people still living with the health toll of that day. There’s no place for that kind of hate in our world. We were reminded of that then, and we should remind ourselves of it often. 😘 by @ichoosebikes

Today our girl is 21! 🎉❤️
Send her some birthday love @whistlergrace if you’d like.
I remember even before she was born, thinking about this day…wondering who she would be, what she’d be into, and how we would celebrate this special milestone.
Well, that day is here. 🥹 And while I’m sadly not with her to celebrate…Stik is, and they are celebrating in style…Disneyland yesterday, hanging in LA today, and tonight they’re heading to a 21 and over comedy club. 😹
Cheers to another trip around the sun, Goose. ☀️ 21 is a special one, and I couldn’t be more proud of the person you’ve become.
Love you, Goose!!! ❤️

Garden of the Gods has been my favorite place to visit since moving to Colorado Springs…it is such a beautiful place with amazing wild life and you can visit for free! Please sign (Any American can sign) the petition to NOT support an ai data center to affect the beauty, noise, and overall environment of this beautiful landmark! @gardenofthegodspark by @ichoosebikes

Cheers to MOMS everywhere today (especially my mom, my mother-in-law and my sis)!!! It’s not an easy task to raise humans, the fear, the anxiety of keeping them alive, the never-ending work that goes into it… And it can feel thankless feel hopeless, and yet somehow be the most beautiful thing in the world all on the same day. So thank you for putting in the hardest work (in my opinion) and making our world better for it. We love you! @carizogorski @karen_buffington_donovan @onemonga And @julieandrews because we love her!!! by @ichoosebikes

I’m reminded every year during September of this special moment back in 1995; 30 years ago in Kirchzarten, Germany, when I won the @uci_mountainbike Downhill World Championships for Team USA - following American Missy Giove’s victory in Vail, CO in 1994. The gift of the rainbow jersey still holds a special place in my heart…and I’ll be cheering on @usacycling racers to break our DH Elite Woman’s dry spell these past 30 years…let’s Go!!! by @ichoosebikes
