Another reception for the books!
Thank you so much to everyone that was able to come see the show in Newton City Hall. It was such a wonderful time to be with friends, family, and fellow artists that make up my community.

Big shoutout to the man behind the camera, @marioforgione_ . These photos came out great!

The show will be up until Jan. 25th. So make sure to go see it before it’s gone.

My first public art installation

Connection Through Community, also known as the Kinetic Prism Sculpture, is an interactive installation that focuses on the interwoven community that makes up the city of Lowell, MA. Developed from a community survey conducted by Selbert Perkins Design, I utilized the desire for artwork that reflects the energy, color, and abundance of the diverse community while also highlighting the woven connections throughout the acre. To further spotlight the connective history of the city, a local organization, Mosaic Lowell, suggested the fence along the Merrimack Street Canal as a significant location that acts as a main passage between the city.

The 3-sided prisms adorned with 3 artistic representations, create numerous possibilities that not only showcase the diverse community but also the range in styles found throughout the neighborhood. While there are many different backgrounds, the people of Lowell connect through community, just like the canals connect the historic city that they call home.

The project was funded through the American Rescue Plan Act, City of Lowell Public Art Program. The grant award aims to support and uplift local cultural organizations and artists in their endeavors to enhance and enrich the cultural landscape of the community.

A huge appreciation to Ian (_ian.f) and the dedicated team at Bluebird Graphics and Solutions LLC. , all my friends who were able to assist during the installation of the panels (Molly, Matt, Dave, and Jess, and Kim & Benji), and the ARPA grant from the City of Lowell for trusting me with the opportunity. I also can’t forget to shoutout my partner, Ali. Without her creativity this project wouldn’t have made it off the ground. Thank you all so so much.

Big shoutout the creative genius @loismissowou for capturing this dope footage!

Thank you for seeing me in my art.

I just read my first ever art review for my first solo show, Ego & Insecurities, and I feel so humbled and truly appreciative of the in depth breakdown of the narrative I created throughout the exhibition. From the references to my Southern roots to the intimate vulnerable moments captured in my installations, Alisa really captured the story I wanted to share. Thank you so much Alisa Prince and the Boston Art Review team for coming to my Artist Talk with Jamaal Eversley and choosing to feature me and my work!

As a reminder, my closing reception is coming up from 3-5pm this Sunday at Piano Craft Gallery! All are welcome to see the show one last time before it closes. I’ll also be at the gallery Friday night 6-8pm and Saturday from 12-5pm.

Hope to see y’all there!

I’m happy to share my newest installation, “Share the Spotlight.” 🎹

“Share the Spotlight,” focuses on creating center stage for people performing for their community. The series of colors and shapes act as highlights to the continuous line work that reflects the expressions of the neighborhood enjoying the music. This piece took over 2 weeks and a number of 12 hour days to sand, prime, and paint. It will be on display outside of Auburndale Community Library through Labor Day Weekend.

Thank you to Newton’s Community Events & Programs team and their Newton Artful Piano public art initiative for selecting me to be one of the artists to rejuvenate this donated piano.

A big thank you to my piano pals that are keeping this piece dry and safe during the bad weather.

And can’t forget to shout out the mastermind behind the camera, my neighbor and friend, @marioforgione_

Can’t wait to hear the music y’all create on it. 🎶

FIRST ART STUDIO 🔑

As many of you may know, I have been working out of my apartment for the last 3 years of being a full time artist. That means my partner, dog, and I have been living in a maze of boxes, canvas, and painting supplies. While it’s been “manageable,” I finally have the opportunity to have my own studio space!

Quick History 📖
The story of the finding the studio is just as cool as the building itself. The previous owner, Red Sun Press, was a cooperatively run printing company. Established in 1974, the founders were active in the civil rights, anti-war, environmental, and women’s movements. They believed that providing a full service print shop for their customers, the local community, and their staffed union workers, who all organized around issues of social and economic change, would better the society we live in.

Now, the new owners and old friends, @co.everything , are staying true to the cooperative approach by renovating the first floor to become the @coopsocialclub and making the second floor art studio space that supports 10+ artists! I can’t wait to experience how the space evolves into a creative hub of possibilities.

I’m truly appreciative to express myself through art and have y’all’s support along the way. Shoutout to my neighbor and friend, @marioforgione_ for these amazing photos documenting me in my space, shoutout to all the artists I get to share (and hopefully collaborate) with, and can’t forget to celebrate @ali.nagisa for endlessly supporting my dream 🥹.

If you’re ever interested in a private tour of the space don’t be afraid to reach out! See y’all in JP!

As spring is around the corner, I’m happy to present updated designs to the popular Single Line Flowers. 🌺

This series is meant to remind us that with hope comes beauty. Like flowers, each painting has slightly different characteristics that make it unique. The collection includes a range of colors and familiar flowers we know and love.

Now on my website (link in bio)

We were once stolen and shackled to the next. A kin to some but strangers at best. We’ve been forced to tend to unknown lands, fought back with our fists held high and signs in our hands. Little did we know, the way our bodies used to lay is now a reflection of our hands at rest today.
