You’ll often hear me reference data from Teacher Tapp, it’s a free app you can download and every day, the app pings you three quick questions about school life. The next day you see how thousands of other teachers answered, which is either reassuring or mildly terrifying depending on the topic. Turns out you’re not the only one who’s been told which colour pen to mark in.
Why bother? Because when someone in Westminster says “teachers feel…”, I’d rather it came from actual teachers than from a focus group whose last classroom experience was watching Waterloo Road. Teacher Tapp results get picked up by journalists, researchers and policymakers. The more of us answering, the harder we are to ignore.

They give back with a short daily read alongside your results (CPD you can genuinely do with a brew in one hand) and monthly prizes for people who take part. There are also streak badges, and I’m ashamed to say a little virtual medal is enough to keep me going.

#AD | Teaching kids about money feels like one of those things we should all know how to do. Then you actually have to explain budgeting, saving and spending to a classroom and suddenly it’s not quite so simple.

I’ve been working with @nationwidebuildingsociety and using their Teacher Accreditation Programme, which gives you training and ready-to-use resources to make teaching financial education that bit easier.

The lessons, slides and activities are all there ready to go, so you’re not starting from scratch. Which, when the teacher to-do list is already long enough, is always a bonus.

It’s about feeling more confident talking about money in the classroom and helping kids build skills they’ll actually use in real life.

So, honest question: would you feel confident teaching money tomorrow?
