"I’ve gotten in such a habit of analyzing my teaching... but I haven't spent time thinking about my conducting habits."

That reflection from Alicia, a secondary school orchestra director, captures a tension we hear constantly.

Music educators are conditioned to focus on professional development for the classroom:

- Lesson design & assessment
- Classroom management
- Student outcomes

But conductors need space for artistic reflection, too. That’s exactly what we’re building at Ictus—a dedicated space for you to reclaim your identity on the podium. And it's people like Alicia who make this community so transformative.

It’s time to prioritize your own artistic growth. Join Alicia and our community of conductors at the link in our bio.

Most of the work of conducting happens alone...at the desk with a score, and later on the podium, making decisions in real time.
The Ictus Institute exists for the part that doesn’t have a class, a conference, or a finish line:
ongoing guidance, thoughtful feedback, and shared problem-solving with peers and mentors who care about the craft.
If you’re looking for a professional home beyond formal training, you’re in the right place.
