🥊 Fighter Spotlight · EP.06 · Jamar “Icy” Reid He told his dad he had an anger problem so he’d get out of trouble at school. His dad took him to a kickboxing gym. He got beaten up by a girl called Millie. He’s never loved anything more. Meet Jamar “Icy” Reid Thurrock ABC, Essex, and one of the most active fighters in the country. 33 fights in three years. That’s 11 a year, 28 wins. PAL National Champion in America. Development National Champion. 2x Elite Regional Champion with a belt and two defences. NAC semi-finalist. He came to it late and he knows it so he trains like a late starter, chip on the shoulder, every single session. His line: “If you started late, you’ve got to train and fight like it.” Before boxing he was heading down a different road. Boxing changed it. As he puts it: “Boxing will change you and let it.” Now he and his family run Mindset Undefeated a brand built on exactly what it says. Never let anything get the better of you. Stay strong mentally. He doesn’t just wear the cap, he lives it. He’s studied the slick ones Boots Ennis, Shakur, Crawford. Switch-hitting, showboating, style. And he wants to be one of the next characters this sport talks about. He also doesn’t duck anyone. Which is exactly why he gets it: the best fighters in the amateurs struggle to get fights. That’s the problem BoutMatch exists to fix. 🥊 Who’s next for Icy? 👇🏾 #BoutMatch #AmateurBoxing #ThurrockABC #Boxing #EnglandBoxing by @icy_1

1X PAL National champion 🇺🇸🥇✅ I would first like to just say a huge thank you to @thurrockabc and to @peterboroughpoliceboxing for allowing me to have this amazing opportunity and experience . I made my USA debut and my Thurrock ABC debut simultaneously and it couldn’t have gone any better. 6 days 4 fights 4 wins and 1 national championship won . 🔥🥇 I smiled through every day and couldn’t have done it with a better group of people . Thank you to all the coaches and all the boxers who made it an unforgettable experience and an unbelievably enjoyable time . I also met some incredibly talented people including legendary hall of fame coach @freddieroach ⭐️ and future boxing superstar @2x.damon 🔥. All Glory to God for allowing me to display my talents overseas . ❤️🙏🏾 by @icy_1

And just like that my time at Smokey’s is over .. As the letters peels off my vest it’s time for me to peel back a new chapter of my book . I’m forever grateful for all the opportunities , success , memories and most importantly family I made in the last 2 years . 24 fights - 20 wins , 1X senior national development title , 2X regional development titles , 1X elite regional title and an eastern counties elite regional challenge belt later I’ve decided to move on elsewhere . I’m sad I’m leaving but I’m much happier that I arrived in the first place anyways . Thank you for everything Team Smokey forever my home ❤️. @smokeys_boxingclub by @icy_1
