Today we’re trying 삼겹살 (Samgyeopsal — grilled pork belly) at 남산집 (Namsanzip), 용산구 한강대로3가 40-645 (Hangangno 3-ga, Yongsan-gu).
From 서울역 (Seoul Station) or 용산역 (Yongsan Station), hop on any bus heading to 한강대교북단.LG유플러스 (North End of Hangang Bridge, LG Uplus) stop — and from 노들역 (Nodeul Station, Line 9), it’s the same stop, just the other direction. Either way, it’s a short walk from there.
남산집 feels exactly like its name — Namsan House. Not a restaurant designed to impress. A place where 할머니 (grandma) would actually feed you. The 이모님들 (ajeossi/imo — the aunties who run the floor) are gentle, unhurried, and genuinely warm. The food comes out fast, the 삼겹살 is perfectly charred, and with a cold 맥주 (beer) beside it — there’s nowhere else you need to be.
삼겹살 has been a cornerstone of Korean social eating since at least the 1970s, when pork belly became widely accessible and grilling at the table turned into its own ritual. It’s not just food. It’s how Koreans decompress.
Now — did you know there are two types of bean sprouts, and they’re actually different plants? 콩나물 (Kongnamul) grows from soybeans — sturdier, slightly nutty, and always cooked. 숙주나물 (Sukju-namul) grows from mung beans — thinner, more delicate, and can be eaten lightly blanched or even raw. The name 숙주나물 comes from a 15th century scholar named 신숙주 (Sin Sukju), who was infamous for switching political sides — just like mung sprouts, which go bad remarkably fast. Koreans named the vegetable after him as a quiet insult that stuck for 600 years.
So no, it’s not really about one being raw and the other cooked — it’s about which plant, and what you’re making. Both deserve more credit than they get.

@weareullim x @objktt.recordbar, Myeongdong. Rooftop Edition.
Ullim and Objkt are no strangers — but the rooftop was a first. We took advantage of Seoul’s last summer nights to take the party upstairs, and the setting didn’t disappoint.
@joseon_tailor opened with a carefully curated Brazilian/Korean classic record session. @go__gyung_jun followed with a smooth house foreword that warmed the room without rushing it. @banshee.00.00 closed the rooftop portion with an experimental mix spanning house, UK bass and techno — the kind of set that earns its risk.

At 11PM the night moved to the café — more intimate, more personal. @weareullim (@guystyle x @id.all ) own closing the chapter the only way they know how. For obvious reasons you won’t see me behind the decks, but I was there.
Thanks to everyone who pulled up — we were able to write new good memories.
This Thursday — DFZ at @unionseoul Itaewon. Every other week. See you there.
