We are still feeling the energy from MPower. This wasn’t just a retreat—it was a recharge. Black male leaders came together not just to sharpen their skills but to strengthen their bonds. The conversations, the breakthroughs, the laughter—it all mattered.

If you were in the room, drop a word that captures your experience. If you weren’t, let me tell you: this was different. And we’re just getting started.

What’s your story? 🎤
We all have a story, a journey, a set of powerful experiences that have helped to shape who we are as people and as leaders.
When bringing a new group of leaders together, I always take the time to ground ourselves in our stories. Stories have the ability to connect, transform, inspire, and bound a group for life. ✨This has always been our most requested session for senior executives.✨ When’s the last time you’ve shared a meaningful story with your team? 📝

WE ARE THE 2%.
Black men represent just 2% of the educator workforce.
And this is what happens when we create intentional space for them to find one another.
A few weeks ago, we gathered for our first MPower retreat of the year. Black male educational leaders from across the country came together to connect, reflect, laugh, learn, and begin building the brotherhood that will carry us through the year ahead.

This was only the beginning.
We are MPower.

Come take a glimpse inside Retreat 1. 💙

We believe school leaders deserve more than another professional development session. They deserve space to step away from the day-to-day, think deeply, be challenged, be cared for, and be in community with other leaders who understand the weight and joy of the work.

So, we retreat.

Our Principal Academy leaders reflected on who they are as leaders, clarified what they want to build in their schools, wrestled with real challenges, learned alongside one another, and made commitments about what comes next.

This is what learning and leadership development can feel like…in community, joyful, challenging, heartfelt and yet grounding.

Swipe to see a little of it in action. →

Retreat 1: Legacy Starts Here. 💙

What a way to start. 💙
We kicked off our first Principal Academy retreat with dinner, good conversation, lots of laughter, and time to simply connect and get to know one another.

And you would think we’ve been at this for a while. 😂 The conversation was flowing, the laughter was LOUD, and the connections were already starting to form. This group clicked from the beginning.

Over the next year, they’ll learn together, grow together, receive individualized coaching and support, and have space to step outside of the day-to-day to really invest in their leadership.

And ultimately, that investment goes right back into their schools, their teams, and the students they serve.

We are SO excited about this group and everything ahead for them. 💙

Swipe through for a glimpse of our Welcome Dinner.

Principal Academy, we’re underway.

We are excited to welcome Demetrius Preatto to the MPower community.
Demetrius brings a deep commitment to New Orleans, its students and families. We’re excited for the perspective, experience, and energy he’ll bring to this brotherhood of Black male educational leaders.

And the timing couldn’t be better. MPower is officially underway.

Last night, we brought the full cohort together for our Kickoff, and the energy in the room was incredible. Leaders connected, shared, laughed, and began building the community and brotherhood that will anchor this experience throughout the year.

Next stop: our first retreat in September, where we’ll bring this brotherhood together in person and continue building from there.

Welcome to the brotherhood, Demetrius.

We are excited to welcome Jeremiah Johnson to the MPower community.

Jeremiah’s commitment to students, families, and fellow educators is reflected in the way he leads with integrity, serves with purpose, and creates equitable opportunities for every young person to thrive. As Director of Student Support at KIPP DC Public Charter Schools and a mentor to young men in his church community, he embodies the kind of leadership that extends far beyond the walls of a school.

This cohort is forming with intention, and it’s going to be a strong one. Only a few days until we officially kick off.
Welcome to the brotherhood, Jeremiah. @jjredeemed

This week, thousands of education leaders are gathering in New Orleans for the National Charter Schools Conference. And while the conference brings people from across the country together, it has me thinking about the leaders who call this city home.
Some of the most meaningful relationships of my career, both personally and professionally, have been built in this city alongside leaders who show up every day for kids, schools, and communities.

These photos are just a small snapshot of the people I’ve had the privilege of learning alongside, partnering with, coaching, and celebrating this year. They represent the relationships, trust, and shared commitment that have made New Orleans such a meaningful part of my story.

A few selfies with some incredible leaders who make this city special. I SEE YOU!

We’re excited to welcome Byron Whitten to the MPower community through our continued partnership with Algiers Charter Schools Association.

Byron is one of the most dynamic educators in his building. We’ve had the opportunity to see him teach and lead firsthand, and what stands out immediately is his ability to engage, inspire, and connect with those around him. There is a level of enthusiasm, belief, and positive energy that follows him into every space he enters.

What excites us most is Byron’s deep commitment to growth. He is constantly seeking ways to sharpen his craft, elevate his leadership, and create even greater outcomes for the students and community he serves.

That combination of talent, humility, and a relentless desire to get better is exactly what makes him such a strong addition to this community.

We are honored to be part of his leadership journey and look forward to watching him continue to grow, lead, and elevate.

Welcome to MPower, Byron. @bwizzback

Taschi’s commitment to his school, students, and broader community is reflected in the way he leads with purpose, builds meaningful relationships, and creates opportunities for those around him to thrive. His dedication to developing young people and strengthening the communities he serves makes him a natural addition to this growing brotherhood of leaders.

MPower brings together Black male educational leaders from across the country who are committed to growing their impact, sharpening their leadership, and supporting one another through the unique opportunities and challenges of the work.

This community is forming with intention, and it’s shaping up to be a powerful group of leaders. Final seats are being secured now, and we’re excited about the momentum building for the year ahead.

Momentum. We’re continuing to build a powerful group of leaders for this next MPower cohort.

We are excited to welcome back Josh Washington, Executive Director in New Orleans, to our next cycle.

This is what it looks like when leaders choose to invest in themselves and in the kind of community that sharpens, supports, and sustains them.
We’re finalizing the cohort now and a few seats remain.
