This is an updated logo—a modification of an old design I’ve always loved for its simplicity.

The big “P” stands for picpoket. At the center of the P is an open window—this represents the picpoket itself. That window is a reflection of every person who wears it. It’s a window into your life, your story, your images, your videos—how we see one another and connect through visual communication.

Inside the circle that forms the P, you’ll also notice a subtle sewing stitch—a nod to the handwork, the customization, the care.

The fuchsia (magenta) shadow represents upcycled fashion—choosing not to buy new, working with what already exists, and honoring our responsibility to the earth.

The turquoise speaks to upcycling technology—reimagining how we carry and share our stories.

The c/s stands for con safos—a Chicano term rooted in the movement and still alive today. It functions as a barrio copyright: respect, intention, cultural authorship. José Antonio Burciaga writes about this in Drink Cultura.

picpoket sounds like “picture pocket,” but I flipped the letters, removed the “c,” and left POKE right in the middle—because literally, I poke a hole through your garment. Nothing accidental.

Everything I do is layered—visual messages, silent messages—with purpose behind every action.

If you believe in being the verb, in showing up, sharing, and building community through visual language—I’m looking forward to meeting you.

⚡ BE THE VERB! ↗️
Be the action. Be the change. Be the verb!

What does it mean to Be the Verb?

A verb represents action, movement, growth, and possibility. It’s not just about what we say, what we believe, or what we dream of becoming. It’s about what we DO.

BE THE VERB! is a philosophy rooted in the belief that our everyday actions shape who we become and the world around us.

We believe that personal growth begins with intention, that learning is a lifelong journey, and that even the smallest positive actions can create meaningful change.

Be curious. Be creative. Be courageous. Be kind. Be the person who takes action!

As an artist, educator, entrepreneur, and father, I’ve spent years exploring how creativity, education, and community can empower people to discover their potential. Now, I’m bringing that philosophy to life through BE THE VERB!, developing a collection of products, educational tools, and interactive experiences designed to inspire action, self-discovery, and personal growth.

🌱 Our first project is a series of BE THE VERB! Personal Development Cards, designed to encourage young minds to reflect, explore, build confidence, develop healthy habits, and turn positive intentions into everyday actions.

And this is just the beginning!

We’re developing new products, creative learning experiences, and services that bring this philosophy into homes, classrooms, and communities.

Because growth isn’t just something we talk about. It’s something we practice.

✨ The way we do one thing is the way we do everything.

Stay tuned as we build, create, experiment, and grow together.

BE THE VERB!
Don’t just talk about it. Live it.

Yesterday was a reminder: check the weather before you head out. 🌧️🚲

I got caught in the rain, showed up one minute late, and missed my train home. That turned into a 22-mile ride from midnight to 2AM back home. But honestly… that’s exactly why I train when I don’t need to. Why I ride farther when I could take it easy. Because when life throws unexpected moments your way, you’ve already prepared yourself to rise to the occasion.

Life brings opportunities, challenges, setbacks, and lessons whether you like them or not. What really matters is what you make of it.

I still had an amazing day connecting with the staff at ReDiscover Center in Mid-City LA. We built together, learned together, and shared ideas during training. Grateful for the experience and the people. If you haven’t checked them out yet, look into the amazing work they’re doing through creativity, education, and community. They’re currently looking for donations and fundraising support. ReDiscoverCenter.org

Stay present.
Be the verb.
Take the action needed — even if it’s just one degree, one percent. That small shift can pivot your whole direction.

Keep moving forward. 🚴‍♂️⚡ by @idr.1977

What a beautiful first Pizza & Piñata workshop at Supernova Thrift in Boyle Heights, Los Angeles 🍕✨

Today was all about bringing families together to celebrate arte and culture—one little piñata at a time. Parents, siblings, and young creators showed up ready to create, and it was amazing to see each person bring their own unique vision to life.

A special moment for me—two participants created hummingbird piñatas 🐦💫 Their creativity and attention to detail were something else. And all around, the kids had so much fun designing colorful, one-of-a-kind pieces.

I’m grateful to Yvonne and Elvis of Supernova Thrift for their support and commitment to serving the community. Spaces like this make it possible for creativity and connection to thrive.

This is just the beginning. I’m excited to continue building these experiences and creating more opportunities for us to come together, make, and share.

Stay tuned for upcoming workshops 👀Check out my website + Instagram for where I’ll be next and all the creative offerings I’ve got for you.

First blind contour drawing of myself.

I’ve always been drawn to illustration—not just as an art form, but as a way of thinking. Drawing is how I process ideas, how I document them, and how I bring them into the world.

I love working across different mediums and pushing myself to see differently each time I pick up a pen.

I’ll be popping up at different spaces offering blind contour portraits. Quick, spontaneous drawings—no looking, just presence and line.

If you’d like, I can also turn your drawing into a small sticker sheet (up to 8 stickers) made on the spot in just a few minutes.

This was the first self-portrait I did in this series. I’ll be sharing more soon. by @idr.1977

Starting something new.

This space — IDR.1977 — is a reset, a container, a channel.

A place where everything I am flows through:
art, ideas, experiments, adventures, conversations, questions, wins, losses… all of it.

Not polished. Not filtered. Just real time.

I’ve spent years creating, building, moving, connecting dots — now I want to document that process as it happens. To reflect. To understand. To share.

This isn’t just about what I make,
it’s about what I learn.

A living archive of thoughts, personal perspectives, and creative exploration.
A space for possibility.
A space for connection.

If you’re here, you’re part of it.

Let’s see where this goes. taken in Los Angeles, California by @idr.1977

Title: We Will Never Forget!

This piece merges two faces into one—Cesar Chavez and Donald Trump—rendered in black and white, split down the middle yet aligned to form a single portrait. Beneath them, the words read: We will never forget!

The work responds to recent public reactions to allegations surrounding Chavez, where institutions and communities have moved swiftly—renaming streets, removing statues, and covering murals. These actions signal accountability, at least on the surface.

At the same time, a powerful figure like Trump—facing multiple allegations and legal controversies—continues to be elevated, branded, and celebrated in plain sight.

By fusing these two figures into one face, I’m confronting that contradiction. The piece asks:
Who is remembered, and how? Who is held accountable, and who is protected?

We will never forget! becomes both a promise and a question—about memory, justice, and the uneven ways society responds to harm. by @idr.1977
