Early morning spins. I just love it when I can roll out of bed and skate. I’ve been hooked on that figure 8 drill and using it to drill reverse corkscrews and 1 foot spins too. I realized after I put this together that they are all on my good side. Whenever a spin felt good I would stop recording , so these are all of those spins. Made it easy to review footage anyway. I like to just leave the camera recording and forget it’s there so I often have to spend way too much time looking for the highlights. And I realize that there’s more to it than the highlights, but I’ll post more of this practice on their relevant workshop pages. @sitspinworkshop @corkscrewworkshop and now @matrixworkshop . This drill is great for all of these spins really. Well is the matrix a spin? I suppose it can be. It does rotate and practicing all three together was interesting. In all cases, I’m anchoring on the leg that is stepping open and sort of swinging the other legs around to cross in front for the cork, parallel for the sit spin or pointing in the turning direction for the matrix. A very satisfying realization this morning. ✨✨

Well, I wasn’t going to say anything. I was just going to quietly dip out of the corkscrew page, but then I decided to make a new spot for anyone who asked me about it. And then people started using it more! But now I worry that people are going to come check it out, having seen it and then feel like they were kicked out so I have to say something now because that is not the case. I was just tired of putting in the work to keep it alive but only a handful of the 2000 + !followers were actively adding to the page and there wasn’t the kind of the dialogue I had hoped for when this was a small group in a chat. I’m praying this next go round will be better (what I say before every spin)

✨sit spin training ✨
Since I started working on these, I have been getting lots of great advice from other skaters. That’s one of the best things about recording process. It allows you to analyze your own footage and to compare it to films of other skaters that you are trying to emulate and other skaters can also spot issues that you might be having. I am so grateful to the ones that give constructive feedback and support. @quadzillalk has been especially helpful and will send me notes and videos demonstrating technique. I applied some recent feedback in today’s session and it felt really good.
These are the notes given that I focused on.
✨relax the shoulders and imagine I’m holding a pen between my shoulder blades (the pen tip is from. @jtdw2488 )
✨let the knees and feet point outward, something that feels natural and don’t fight so hard to control them
✨I need to be on the balls of my feet, weight in outside edges, rolling from inside to outside as i sit.
✨slow and controlled will only teach me so much, I need to feel it with momentum. Less time to overthink it.
✨flow with the movement instead of straight drilling
✨lastly, doing the squats on front wheels before I start to drill the spins has been a game changer. If I skip that step, they are just a hot mess!
I hope that these tips are helpful to my friends who are also working on these.
We are going dooowwwnn!! Let’s do this 💪💪

I’ll be taking my first trip to LA to skate here in a few weeks so I thought I should practice skating in a bathing suit. Not ready to skate in the full bikini yet. I remember wearing a sports bra in public for the first time while skating and it was such a freeing moment. I get so overheated when I skate so it feels good to wear less,and it’s an environment that feels natural to expose your skin,. Before this I always tried to hide under my clothes, but I’ve also become more accepting of my body and grateful that it can skate and spin and express myself in this way. Does this post feel vulnerable too ? Hell yeah, but I was really feeling this song and this is what came out of it, and the reason it feels vulnerable is because it’s me, my flow my style, not just drilling spins or combos and I don’t know how it is going to go over and the fact that I even care Is the reason I have to take this break. The validation trap. . I was going to keep going till the end of this month but I think I should just let this be the last one. The eclipse was tonight and it feels like a natural ending, so that’s that. Gonna just post and ghost and I’ll see y’all in 2027.

Clearing the drafts. When I began, I posted everyday. I had no drafts. I was doing a skate daily challenge and just posted my practice. Simple. Somewhere along g the r way I started to judge the work more and post less. Or just put it in a story or bury it in a carousel. Which is what I think I originally did with this one. I’m out of drafts now, but I also have a bunch of footage in my phone that never even made it that far. Thera are a few more days left in the month , so I’ll go through and find some keepers before purging the rest from the camera roll. I might not even record my practice sessions for a while which honestly feels uncomfortable because what if I do some thing that I wanna remember? But I really don’t think that will happen because most of my practices look the same. This past year has been a lot of repetition even for me.. maybe I’ll try to dig some up where I wasn’t doing these same spins with a little bit of ballroom. I do still want to figure out doing cork screws, and sit spins within a ballroom set with my partner. We have worked on it some. I wish we didn’t live so far away from each other and could practice more often.

I met @yooogggiiii last December and we immediately became skate partners. We were at a skate party, and be had a blister and was skating in the slow lane (usually we would skate together on the outside). So I asked if he ever did partner skating, and he said yes! So we linked up and it felt so natural, maybe because we had both been skating in the outside with the same guys, but the sync up was crazy. We’ve been skating together1-2x a month since then (we live two hours away from eachother) and it gets better every time. He is so creative and fun And even though we are definitely putting work in, it never feels like work, just flow. I don’t know why I haven’t shared a lot about this ballroom journey. Maybe it’s because it is a style with so much history and nuance and I know that I’m not getting it right yet. Sharing my process with spins feels different because it seems more acceptable to have your own way about it, but maybe it’s also OK to have your own way about a style, even a borrowed one that is not your own. I’ll share a few more ballroom videos that I have been sitting on before the week is out and my IG break commences. Everything else is just me working on that reverse corkscrew over and over again and I think that’s why I like Partner Skating so much because I can so easily fall into a rut when I am on my own and having somebody else to riff of is so cool.

Chicago O’Hare airport spins. 4am, just made it through security and had time before my flight home. I spent 48 hours in Chicago and skated for about 20 of them. I didn’t take any photos or videos at the rink. No highlight reel, no report, just lived fully in the experience and enjoyed every bit of it. Some was planned, some I just let the universe plan for me and it was perfect. I can’t wait to come back.

Skating on a dream. I’ve been skating and posting my journey for almost 4 years now with just occasional breaks. As we head into the last 4 months of 2026, I have decided to take the rest of the year off of IG. This also means that I will be taking a break from managing the workshop pages and those will be deactivated for the time being. I’m just curious what I will start doing with my time and what my skating will look like when I’m not recording my practice and trying to find answers to all the questions (mine and others’) Something I love, but maybe it takes too much of my focus, when I should just be enjoying my hobby and developing my style. 4 months is a long time, but that’s what I need to truly break this habit. I’m posting this for accountability and to communicate my intentions. I have loved being here and connecting with so many skaters all over the world and I am looking forward to coming back and finding a balance and more discipline with the time I spend here. by @idreamofskating
