**”Swim under 30 min for your 70.3 — GUARANTEED!” 🚩**

No coach can guarantee a time. Sub-30 means holding ~1:34/100m for 1.2 miles. Some athletes get there, many won’t, no matter the training. Background, age, mobility, and available hours all matter.

And swim times are course-dependent. A downriver current, a wetsuit, or a short course can take minutes off. Lots of “sub-30” swims came from a river, not from a program.

What actually makes you faster:
1. Fix your stroke before adding yards
2. Swim more often: three short swims beat one long one
3. Practice open water: sighting, drafting, swimming straight

Chase your best swim, not a number someone sold you.

Are you training hard—or training in the right direction?

As both an athlete and a coach, I’m a big believer that sometimes the most valuable thing we can do is pull back, look at the bigger picture, and ask: Is what I’m doing actually getting me where I want to go?

I’m Julie Dunkle, co-founder and coach at NYX Endurance. I’ve spent years coaching endurance athletes—and I’m still an athlete myself, constantly learning, adjusting and looking for ways to get better.

That’s why I want to offer a FREE Training Review & Analysis to a handful of athletes.

I’ll take a look at your current training, consistency, workload, recovery, progression and performance data, and most importantly, whether what you’re doing actually lines up with where you want to be.

And with 2027 around the corner, now is the perfect time to do it. Not January. Now. This is the time to identify what’s working, what isn’t, and what needs to change so you can head into 2027 with a purpose—not just another training plan.

No obligation. No cookie-cutter advice. Just another set of experienced eyes on your training and some actionable feedback you can use.

Your 2027 goals may be months away, but the work that gets you there starts now.

Interested? DM me “2027” and tell me a little about what you’re training for.

Or set up a call with link in bio

Back where it started. 🏆
Judy McNary won the IRONMAN World Championship in Nice in 2024, then the 70.3 World Championship in Marbella in 2025. Now she’s back in Nice to defend that 70.3 title. Hard work, dedication, and total commitment to the process — that’s how you become a two-time world champion.
Go get it again, Judy! 🇫🇷

How hard should you ride the 70.3 bike? 🚴‍♀️➡️🏃‍♀️

Not "as hard as you can" — that's the mistake. Here's what the numbers actually say:

For a strong, experienced athlete with a solid aerobic base, 80–85% of FTP is the target range for a half-Ironman bike leg (Allen & Coggan's power-training research calls this the optimal Intensity Factor for a well-prepared athlete).

But the average isn't the whole story. Two athletes can post the exact same average power and run completely differently off the bike — because what actually predicts the run is Variability Index. Keep it at 1.05 or below (steady power, no surging on hills or wind) and Joe Friel's data says you run well. Blow past it and you won't, even if your average looks perfect on paper.

We've seen it play out in real race files: one athlete at the 70.3 Worlds held IF .86 dead flat and negative-split the run. Another rode IF .82 — technically more conservative — but surged in the final miles and paid for it in fatigued quads on the run.

Same zone. Different discipline. That's the difference between banking your run and blowing it up.

Want a pacing plan built around your actual FTP and your running strength? Link in bio for a free consult.

Thinking about your first — or next — Ironman? 🏔️

140.6 miles isn't something you rush into. Here's the move:
🔹 Consult to find your full-distance race
🔹 Program built for the long course — endurance, strength, fueling
🔹 Runway long enough to build the base and toe the line ready

Ironman spots for 2027 are limited. Let's start building.

2027 will be here before you know it. 🏔️

If a 70.3 has been sitting in the back of your mind, this is the moment to stop thinking about it and start building toward it. Real progress takes a runway — time to train, time to adapt, time to recover — and that's exactly what a 2027 build gives you.

Here's how it works with NYX:
🔹 A consult to find the race that actually fits your life
🔹 A program built around your schedule and your strengths
🔹 A runway long enough to build real fitness, not rush it

Spots for 2027 athletes are limited. The time to start is now.

A few weeks ago we headed to @leadvilleraceseries for the Trail 100 MTB Race to support a few San Diego racers! I got a pair of @oakley / @oakleybike META Vanguard glasses to shoot some POV footage of the racers that stopped for aid. Our 2026 events are over but we are already in the planning stages of 2027 so reach out to us if there is a race you need us to support you at! taken in Leadville, Colorado by @idropboys

It's mid-summer hot. Your energy is nowhere near where you want it. And you've got races on the table. Here's how to approach it:

1. Name it, don't fight it. Flat legs in summer heat aren't weakness — they're physiology. Heat, fatigue, stress all show up this way. Guilt just burns energy you don't have.

2. Start the workout anyway. Getting out the door is the hardest part. Don't diagnose from the couch — do the first ten minutes and let your body answer. You'll usually find you're just fine.

3. Check your fuel before you blame your legs. Heat drains you fast, especially if you're behind on carbs or sodium. Often the fix isn't willpower — it's food and salt.

4. Train at the edges of the day. Early morning or evening, when the heat backs off. Smart training beats surviving the clock.

5. Remember your why. You signed up for a reason. That's what gets you out the door — not motivation, purpose.

You don't have to feel amazing to have a good week. You just have to show up.

Today, Alex put it ALL together — highest bike power we’ve seen from her in months, backed up by a strong run with zero fade. That’s the complete race.

But here’s what makes this one really special: it’s not just about today’s numbers. It’s about everything that led here. Alex has had her share of tough races and setbacks along the way — and she never gave up. She kept showing up, kept doing the work, kept trusting the process.

Today was proof. All that training, all that resilience — it paid off.

This is what consistency looks like. This is what not quitting looks like. 💪

Way to go, Alex— so proud of you! 🚴‍♀️🏃‍♀️

❄️ Mile 90 of Leadville 100. Deep in the pain cave, core temp climbing, legs debating whether they still work.

Rolling into St Kevins, volunteers handing out me something I’d never tried before — a @neversecond C30 Ice Gel. Figured, why not.

Best “why not” of the entire race.

It was actually frozen. Not “cool” — ICE. 30g of fast carbs and 200mg sodium, melting in real time while it pulled my core temp back down and got the legs talking to the brain again. I didn’t know a gel could do that.

Cool Citrus flavor, easy to get down even when nothing else sounded appetizing at 10,000+ feet.

Never had one before this race. Buying a box before the next hot one. 🥶🚵‍♀️

Massive thanks to Leadville and NeverSecond
