🇨🇳 Chinese company just bought 83% of Lafarge for $1 billion (₦1.5 trillion)! This is why it matters to anyone in construction, and even tenants.

🇳🇬 Nigeria produces almost TWICE the cement it needs, yet we pay nearly double what other countries pay for a bag. Make it make sense.

The reason? Producers prefer to export the surplus rather than compete and drop prices locally.

But Chinese companies have a reputation, when they enter a market, they come in HARD with low prices to grab customers fast, we've seen it with phones, solar panels, and EVs.

If they do the same with cement, Dangote and BUA won't have a choice. They'll have to drop prices too. For builders, contractors, and developers: cheaper cement = cheaper building costs = better profit margins for you.

And here's the ripple effect, if construction costs fall, landlords building new properties spend less. That could eventually put downward pressure on rents, especially in competitive areas. More supply + lower building costs = possible rent relief for tenants.

So whether you're laying blocks or paying rent, this is one deal to watch closely. 👀 by @iduatei

As we step into this new week, here’s a quiet truth worth carrying with you: greatness isn't built in a single moment, it's forged in the small, consistent choices we make every day.

Show up, not just physically, but fully present.
Give your best to every task, no matter how small. Take action with intention, not just effort.

And above all, let your character speak louder than your credentials. Because while talent and hard work may open doors, it’s trust, integrity, and reliability that keep them open, and invite even bigger opportunities in.

Here’s to a week of purpose, progress, and promise. Make it count. by @iduatei

This morning I watched a clip of Bishop David Oyedepo that stopped me mid-scroll.

His church needed a piece of land. Found the perfect one. Went to negotiate, but the money wasn't complete. He asked if 30% down with installments could work.

Seller said no.

So he walked away. Used the money elsewhere. Months later, he felt nudged to check back. The land was still there. The seller said buyers just… stopped coming.

I sat with that for a minute. 💭

How many times have we forced doors that weren't ready to open? Panicked. Overbid. Over-explained. Bent ourselves into knots for something God already reserved with our name on it?

The land didn't go anywhere. It waited.

There's something almost embarrassing about how hard we fight for what's already ours. The midnight anxiety. The "what if someone else gets it first?"

What if the answer is simply… go and rest?

Not laziness. Not passivity. Just the quiet confidence of someone who knows what's promised doesn't require your panic to arrive.

If it's yours, the buyers will stop coming.

Every time. Wishing you a great week, may you rest in what's already secured for you. by @iduatei

During a conversation with a colleague today, we delved into the new tax law and its implications for personal financial planning. We explored how strategic use of various exemptions can not only optimize our current finances but also create a robust pathway for future security.

We discussed several key exemption routes in detail:

Pension Savings Schemes, Life Assurance policies, we also touched on exemptions related to specific investments, health insurance premiums, and allowances for education, which can further refine one's financial strategy.

My colleague asked how I, as a valuer, had acquired such a detailed understanding of finance. I explained that my foundation was laid by my elder brother, Iti Obitere . He taught me the basics, from budgeting to the principles of investment, which ignited a lasting inquisitiveness in me. He went beyond theory, giving me hands on experience with basic accounting entries and the practical interpretation of financial statements. His mentorship has been a guiding light ever since.

Today, I celebrate my brother. I celebrate not just for the knowledge he imparted to me, but for the profound, positive impact he has on everyone around him. His generosity with wisdom and his unwavering guidance truly make him an amazing human. by @iduatei

Our brains are wired for storytelling, not statistics.

We instinctively link events that happen close together, like wearing a “lucky” outfit to a successful interview or launching a new feature just before sales boom and assume the first thing caused the second.

This is the illusion of causality: a mental shortcut that makes the world feel predictable but often tricks us into seeing connections that aren't really there.

The danger comes when we build decisions, habits, and even strategies around these false links, crediting a ritual for success or blaming the wrong factor for a failure.

To see past the illusion, we have to pause the story our brain is telling and ask, “What else could explain this?” By questioning coincidence, looking for hidden factors, and remembering that correlation does not equal causation, we move from satisfying narratives to smarter, evidence based insight.

That’s how we stop being storytellers and start being strategists.

Happy Holidays. by @iduatei

Four years have passed since you slept. I still remember the last picture I took with you, just before you headed out for your ONDU (Opu Nembe Descendant Union) meeting, a regular Sunday ritual for you.

We’ve had to learn how to navigate a world shaped by your absence. I say "learn," but the truth is, we’ve simply found ways to carry on, not because the loss doesn't ache, but because you equipped us for this very journey. You were a firm believer in our strength and capabilities long before we saw it in ourselves.

From you, I learned the true meaning of hard work and the power of unwavering dedication to one's faith. You were a pillar of peace, a lover of people, and your humility was a quiet, guiding force. Though no one is perfect, your outstanding qualities, your generosity, your diligence, remain beyond my full grasp, a standard to forever strive toward. I miss you every day. I miss the sound of you calling me "Ayi-d-boy," "Idua."

Thank you for the gift of your presence. Thank you for letting me experience the man you were. Thank you for being my Father.

Continue to rest, Iwoye Lambert ITI Kuneagha. You are forever loved, and forever missed.

Thank you Facebook for reminding me. by @iduatei

We often get so caught up in our own thoughts that we fail to see the bigger picture. The value of seeking counsel is immense, and it's a lesson best learned through experience. Consider the times you've been absolutely certain about something, only to realize later that you were mistaken.

This is precisely why seeking advice is so crucial. A different perspective can expose flaws in your ideas that you might have overlooked. A brief conversation with someone who has a different viewpoint can reveal critical insights.

Never underestimate the power of wise counsel. It is a tool for growth, a path to better decision making, and a constant reminder that we don't have all the answers.

Hey everyone, just a quick but important reminder: ALWAYS remember to turn off the water heater before you step into the shower!

These connections are man-made, and you really can’t be sure about the skill level of the electrician or plumber who installed them.

It’s better to be safe than sorry! Let’s make sure this Christmas isn’t your last—stay safe and look out for each other! by @iduatei
