Our seniors recently welcomed architect and designer Malek Alqadi (@alqadi.malek) to College Composition! ✏️✨

As students began developing their college application personal statements, Malek shared his journey from high school to Parsons and into a career in architecture and design. His work has been featured in Architectural Digest, Wallpaper, Dwell, and more. 🏛️ The conversation encouraged students to reflect on their own paths, the experiences and values that have shaped them, and how those stories can help guide what comes next. 💭

#StudentTakeovers are officially BACK! 🎬✨

We’re kicking off our first student takeover of the year tomorrow with Dramatic Arts students Ella Temple and Tessa Silverberg as they take you behind the scenes of the New Voices Showcase! 🎭 An annual Dramatic Arts tradition, New Voices welcomes the department’s newest students to the stage as they share their talents through song and storytelling, each introduced by their Theatre Buddy, a returning Idyllwild Arts student. nFollow along on our Stories as Ella and Tessa bring you backstage, introduce you to some of our newest artists, and give you a student’s-eye view of the energy leading up to the showcase. 👀✨

At Idyllwild Arts, creativity and academics coexist every day. Across eight art majors, students step into studios, stages, rehearsal rooms, and creative spaces to explore their craft, take risks, and learn through hands-on training with world-class working artists. Our dual curriculum gives Citizen Artists the space to grow as artists, thinkers, and individuals, building an education that opens up limitless possibilities for what comes next. ✨🌲

A day of Indigenous art, culture, music, food, and community. ❤️🌲 Join us for Idyllwild Arts’ 6th annual Indigenous Peoples Day and hear from this year’s featured guests:

🎶 Diné indie punk rock band Sihasin (@sihasin_band) will share how music can carry messages of cultural resilience, social justice, and environmental advocacy.

🎬 Tai Leclaire (@tai_leclaire), a director, writer, and actor from the Mohawk Nation of Kahnawà, will share his perspective as a Native storyteller working across film, television, and comedy.

The celebration continues with an Indigenous Foods Luncheon, live music by Sihasin, Native artist vendors, Lakota Hand Games, hands-on activities, community partners, and glassblowing with Hopi artists Ramson Lomatewama and Ayen Talashoma.

🌲 Alumni in the Wild: Jorryn Jones ’26 (@jorr.dijon)

An InterArts alum, Jorryn’s time at Idyllwild Arts was marked by a willingness to ask difficult questions, speak with conviction, and create work rooted in truth. She became an activist, wrote a book, created a short film, and used her writing to move, challenge, and inspire the people around her. At Idyllwild Arts, Jorryn found inspiration in the artists, teachers, and community around her, while discovering an even stronger sense of who she is, what she believes in, and the purpose behind the work she creates.

Happy #NationalDanceDay! 🩰✨ At Idyllwild Arts, the study of Dance is built around versatility, artistry, and developing each dancer’s individual voice. Our students train across styles, collaborate with other artists and musicians, create original work, and bring their craft to stages both on and beyond the mountain.

There’s plenty to look forward to in the coming months as our Dance majors take their work into the Coachella Valley in collaboration with Nickerson-Rossi Dance (@nickersonrossidance), including collaborations with fellow student musicians, a site-specific work at Sunnylands, and appearances at Palm Springs Art Museum and Dance House. The season continues into December, when our dancers join the Coachella Valley Symphony for selections from The Nutcracker Suite. 🪩

Music, mentorship, and a return to the stage for the fifth season of the Lily Rock Chamber Music Festival (@lilyrockchambermusicfestival). 🎻🎶🌲

Members of the Manhattan Chamber Players (@manhattanchamberplayers) joined us at Idyllwild Arts for a masterclass, sharing their expertise with young musicians through an afternoon of feedback and conversation. The festival continued with two chamber music performances featuring works by Mozart, Turina, Brahms, and Mendelssohn, bringing artists and community together for another wonderful season of the Lily Rock Chamber Music Festival.
