Bringing something deep to light and finding a way to share it.

This is where The Searchlights begins: from months of research, listening, and work by 18 Photography students from @ied_torino, @ied_milano, and @ied_roma, who explored the present in an attempt to express its urgencies, contradictions, and fragilities.

Giving shape to this narrative were the students of Visual Communication Design at @ied_firenze, who created the visual identity and the packaging for the projects.

On April 10, during @torino.photo.festival, these perspectives entered into dialogue with the public through the Public Portfolio Review hosted at @gallerieditalia - Torino.

The Searchlights is the second chapter of Ti vorrei dire, the three-year project developed in collaboration with Gallerie d’Italia - Torino, a part of @intesasanpaolo.

Projects by: Riccardo Falbo, Penelope Siria Meneghetti, Micol Naretti, Eugenia Re, Eleonora Sanna, Sofia Valabrega, Alice Antonetti, Valeria Arrigo, Guglielmo Benassi, Nicole Pagliuca, Francesca Paoletta, Thomas Voltan, Leonardo Bandini, Linda Chionne, Daria Giovanardi, Arianna Iannone, Giulia Leo, Matteo Rosadi.

Visual identity: Camilla Brandi, Marta Maioli, Hari Santinelli, Olha Serpionova, Angelina Strizhakova, Maria Tedesco

Curated by: Carlotta Cattaneo, Daria Scolamacchia, Giulia Ticozzi

Teaching support: Luis Aniceto, Francesca Cirilli, Fabio Barile, Diego Fontana, Alessandra Foschi, Simona Taddeucci, Jacopo Loiodice, Céline Volonterio

“Da sempre qui” observes the mountain before it becomes a stage for performance.

In her photographic project, Virginia Lioy (@ied_milano, BA Photography) looks at the Dolomites as a lived, inhabited landscape, shaped over time.

As the Milano-Cortina Olympics unfold, this work shifts the perspective: before the event, before competition, there is a place that already exists. And that is where every project should begin.

Kindred is a reflection on the ways we connect - to one another and to the world around us - through the work of fourteen emerging artists. This exhibition brings together artists’ books,
prints, video installations, and ceramics, the outcome of a collaboration between second and third-year photography students at IED Milan under the guidance of their lecturer Magali Avezou.
At its heart lies an exploration of relationships between humans and nature, approached from diverse perspectives: the rebirth of Bassano, a village devastated by an earthquake; a journey
through Sardinia as a cathartic response to past trauma; the creation of imaginary landscapes; or the classification of species through taxidermy. Other works turn inward to examine
intimacy and personal bonds: a poetic tribute to a Vietnamese grandmother, a collage of loved ones, the portrait of a friend whose life revolves around music, and reflections on the
notion of ‘muse’ within romantic relationships.
Kindred invites viewers to consider the many dimensions of relationships: our ties to ourselves, to others, and to the environments we inhabit taken in Careof by @ied_photography

Petroleum, Petrolio - book and research by @sarabernhardt_

Petroleum, Petrolio is a photographic exploration shaped by a quiet, intuitive dialogue with Pier Paolo Pasolini’s unfinished novel. Rather than tracing a linear path, @sarabernhardt_ moves through fragments - words, sensations, mental images - allowing them to surface as visual gestures. The photographs are cinematic in composition, inhabited by male bodies that echo the sensuality and vulnerability found throughout Pasolini’s work, especially his Trilogy of Life. Queerness, myth, and a certain sacred disorder unfold across real and imagined landscapes: the outskirts of Rome, the ruins of Ostia, the solitude of the Torre di Chia. At its core, the project resists literal translation. It listens, distills, and reimagines - seeking not to explain Petrolio, but to carry its pulse into another form. by @ied_photography

WHAT WAS LEFT BEHIND - CASE 19 06 S

Parte della mostra collettiva STORIE FANTASTICHE presso Galleria STILL FOTOGRAFIA a Milano.

Giugno - Agosto 2025

@fntdesigned (Mattia Fontanari), studente @ied_milano , porta Depero, Marinetti e Balla negli spogliatoi.

E no, non è una fan jersey. È un manifesto visivo.

POV: they assign you an Art History exam and you drop a football jersey. No lectures, just Futurism that runs, sweats, and score!

@fntdesigned , @ied_milano student, brings Depero, Marinetti and Balla to the locker room.

And nope, it’s not a fan jersey. It’s a visual manifesto. Shooting by: @aliceantonetti_ph @federicaabarbatoph Models: @leonardoanania_ @mia.keno_ taken in IED Milano by @ied_photography

(Immanuel), by @tlity

_

Immanuel is a photographic exploration that begins with an act of return and quiet attention.
Centered on the recurring presence of the word
以馬內利 etched into the doorframes of rural homes in Fujian, the project reflects on how a symbol, once absorbed into tradition, becomes a living site of layered cultural meaning.
Photography becomes a medium that listens, observes, documents, and interprets the subtle connections between everyday spirituality, domestic architecture, and a sense of belonging.
In this process, the gaze moves through fragments of personal memory, offering an intimate reading of signs that inhabit the threshold between private ritual and collective identity. by @ied_photography

[ESC] by @gioiaspertii

Every part of our daily existence is impacted by technology, which provides countless opportunities for both connection and distraction. Its excessive use, however, creates an ambivalent relationship between users and its effects and poses significant concerns about mental health.
In attempting to address this issue, this project explores how technology could be seen as both the cause and the “cure” of our emotional fragility through a visual story that simulates a public awareness campaign. by @ied_photography

IRL, by @il2ria

visivo.
.

Born into hyper-connectedness and immersed in an endless stream of images, we witness the blurring of reality and its representation. Tragedy and entertainment collide, stripping images of their original meaning.
This project intensifies that collapse: faces and symbols are fragmented, mixed, and recombined, dissolving all points of reference. What remains is an archive of distorted forms, fragments detached from meaning, where the image exists as pure visual residue. by @ied_photography

👉🏽 Cosa aspetti? Il viaggio inizia da qui.
