MORENO VALLEY, Calif. — A 68-year-old Phoenix man died early Tuesday morning, Oct. 6, after his sedan struck a parked box truck in Moreno Valley, authorities said.

Tyrone Dedeaux was pronounced dead at the scene at 3:29 a.m. along Heacock Street, about 400 feet north of Poppystone Drive, according to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office and coroner’s records.

Deputies from the Moreno Valley Sheriff’s Station responded to the area at approximately 3:08 a.m. regarding a report of a traffic collision. Upon arrival, officers found both vehicles with major damage.

Investigators determined Dedeaux was the driver and sole occupant of a sedan that crashed head-on into a parked, unoccupied box truck.

The Moreno Valley Sheriff’s Station Traffic Reconstruction Team responded and assumed control of the investigation. The crash forced a temporary full closure of Heacock Street between John F. Kennedy Drive and Gentian Avenue, but the roadway has since reopened.
