📚☕️ Sharing recent reads - reading through the wonderful chaos of life as a 42 year old mum to two girls

POSTS STORIES REELS

I really enjoyed this book. It was exactly what I needed to read amongst a very busy time in work and life. A lot of thoughtful sentiments in the book including ‘I wish there were more wild, undisturbed places, for both wildlife and us as humans, and a greater understanding that restoring and appreciating nature meets needs we sometimes forget we have.’ It was a beautiful poetic read which felt good for the soul. Recommend! by @ifindoubtjustread

Not typically a genre (science fiction) I usually go for but this was selected as the next book in a book club I have just joined. It was an interesting and thought provoking read, telling a story from the point of view of an artificial friend. I found the writing style quite matter of fact detailing one event from another with the story told in six parts rather than in shorter chapters. It felt quite ominous at times and kept me wondering what would happen to the main characters, Klara the AF and Josie, the teenager who chose her. I’m hoping to see the film of the book released on 23rd October and am grateful to the book club for introducing me to a story I would otherwise have been unlikely to pick up and read. by @ifindoubtjustread

Is there a better present than a book voucher? I had a lovely mooch in my local Waterstones today spending a voucher a lovely friend gave me for my birthday. Looking forward to reading these - has anyone else read them? by @ifindoubtjustread

My September reads 🙌 by @ifindoubtjustread

I enjoyed this book, it is well written and nicely paced, with shortish chapters. Easy to pick up, I became invested in the main characters; a loving family dealing with hardship. Told through the lens of a long car journey and the people, conversations, events and realisations that this brings. It had a depth of emotion and hard hitting of reality that overall was a feel good enjoyable read. by @ifindoubtjustread

Finished! Easy read with depth of emotion from the main characters navigating their own personal stories and then the messiness when they collide with each other. I’d recommend 📚 by @ifindoubtjustread

It’s all about making the most of those moments when I can… when my daughter was at her gymnastics lesson yesterday and I had an opportunity to read and this morning, after I’d done the washing and some life admin I’m now enjoying a cuppa and a read in peace whilst the girls are at park run with their dad. Going slow this morning and grateful for it 🙌 by @ifindoubtjustread

I devoured this book within one weekend - such a powerful and gripping read. My fifth Kristin Hannah book and won’t be my last. Such wonderful writing and characterisation based around a mother daughter relationship and the strength of women in adversity. Set in Alaska it transports you to another world. I enjoyed ‘a conversation with Kristin Hannah’ at the back of the book and the insights into her own personal connection to Alaska and how her childhood shaped some of the writing for this book. Five stars from me! by @ifindoubtjustread

Finished! I really enjoyed this book. There hasn’t been a Kristin Hannah book yet that I wouldn’t recommend. This was an easy read and despite not reading it as quickly as others (due to currently living amongst renovation chaos and valuable reading time being lost to conversations about kitchens!) it was easy to pick up the story and I was invested in the characters and the depth of feeling throughout. What to read next?! I’ve got ‘The Great Alone’ on the TBR pile to continue the Kristin Hannah theme… by @ifindoubtjustread

‘Well, That escalated quickly’ by Sarah Turner - a heart warming read about the mental load and themes of family, relationships and connection to yourself and others. It was an enjoyable and easy read. by @ifindoubtjustread

My August reads ☀️🌊
I’ve loved escaping into stories this summer. Not sure I’ll have read so many by this time next month! I enjoyed all these books but would definitely recommend ‘the women’ and ‘firefly lane’ and have already downloaded my next Kristin Hannah 99p deal on my kindle! by @ifindoubtjustread

Library love! We’re living nearer our local library whilst we stay at my in-laws due to renovations at home. It’s lovely to be able to wander down through the park and choose some new reads together! Apparently one week left of the summer reading challenge! by @ifindoubtjustread
