The International Public Policy Association (#IPPA) Workshops have been organized from June 28 - 30, 2022, in #Budapest, #Hungary.

Over three days, attendants participated in one of the 24 workshops selected to discuss a specific domain of Public Policy. One of these workshops were led by Prof. Leslie Pal, Dean of @cpp_hbku and Dr. Evren Tok, Assistant Dean of Innovation and Community Engagement at the College of Islamic Studies, @hbku

The workshop entitled Sustainable Development Goals Education for #Global Citizenship: Policy Transfer and Knowledge Localization showcased the first-year findings and progress of a 5-year cluster National Priority Program research grant funded by Qatar National Research Fund. Various CPP and CIS faculty and researchers such as Dr. Logan Cochrane, Dr. Hira Amin, Dr. S. Duygu Sever Mehmetoglu, Alina Zaman and Muhammed Kebbeh, top notch scholars from #Brazil, #Germany, #Kazakhstan, and United States joined and presented papers connected to the thematic focus of the workshop.

قدمت بيان خالد، زميلة أبحاث، وإيمان إسماعيل، باحثة مساعدة في كلية الدراسات الإسلامية، ورقة بحثية بعنوان «استكشاف الرابط بين الإسلام ووسائل التواصل الاجتماعي والشباب: دراسة لعلاقة ثلاثية». وهي نتاج دراسة مشتركة استمرت لمدة عام لمعالجة الفجوة في الأدبيات الحالية حول هذه العلاقة من خلال النظر في كيفية تفاعل الشباب المسلم مع وسائل التواصل الاجتماعي من منطلقات دينية، ونظروا في ثلاثة أشكال من التفاعل وهي: تبادل المعلومات حول الإسلام، والمشاركة في بناء المجتمع واستكشاف الذات، والنشاط والفاعلية.

Bayan Khaled, Research Fellow, and Iman Ismail, Research Assistant, at CIS, presented a research paper titled “Exploring the Nexus between Islam, Social Media and Youth: A Study of the Tripartite Connection”. This was the result of a joint, year-long study to address the current literature gap around this nexus by considering how Muslim youth interact with social media for religious reasons. They considered three forms of interaction: sharing information about Islam, engaging in community building and self-exploration, as well as activism. taken in Córdoba, Spain by @iga_hbku
