This keel-billed toucan was recently photographed here in Costa Rica with an unusually turquoise face instead of its typical vibrant green. While it may look obreathtaking, researchers suspect the striking coloration could be linked to nutritional deficiencies caused by inappropriate food provided by humans.

Pigments in birds don’t just create beauty, they can reveal their health, diet, and the state of the ecosystems they call home.

When the swell is up and you feel like something different - its a 3 hour 45 minute drive to Playa de Coco when you can get a boat to Witches Rock and Ollies Point ...
.
Or just stay in Santa Teresa and explore the nearby reefs

Its worth it!
