Prof. Deepti Ganapathy, Management Communication area, IIMB, led a panel discussion on ‘Climate Action’, held as the Central Government invited public opinion on the proposed Ecologically Sensitive Zones (ESZ) in the Western Ghats.

The panel brought together Dr A N Yellappa Reddy, a 90-year-old former IFS officer; Girish DV, a wildlife conservationist and coffee farmer from Chikkamagaluru; and Devaiah Kelettira, a coffee planter from Kodagu, whose video helped raise public awareness about recent biodiversity degradation in the region.

The notification comes at a historic moment, as extreme climate events and biodiversity loss have become increasingly visible in recent years. The discussion explored the emerging frames in climate communication that are generating public outcry, often amplified by social media activism.

Prof. Ganapathy has worked extensively in the Western Ghats, engaging with indigenous communities and studying media narratives. The panel also examined how climate knowledge is produced, communicated, interpreted, and contested across diverse global contexts.

The Post Graduate Programme in Enterprise Management (PGPEM) has risen to #64 globally, from #72 in 2025, and secured the #2 position in India in the Financial Times Executive MBA Ranking 2026.

Average Alumni Salary three years after graduation rose to US$285,934 from US$243,035 in 2025, while the Salary Increase recorded a significant jump to 102%, up from 82%.

Notably, IIMB is the only Indian B-school in the global top 10 for salary increase, which underlines the programme’s career impact for working professionals who pursue a competitive and rigorous MBA while continuing to build their careers.

The FT EMBA evaluates programmes using a combination of alumni feedback and institutional data. More than half of the overall ranking weight is drawn from measures such as Salary Today, Salary Increase, Career Progress, Work Experience, Aims Achieved and the Quality of Alumni Networks.

The assessment builds on the programme’s standing in the QS EMBA Rankings 2026, where it retained its position as India’s No. 1 Executive MBA and remained the only Indian B-school in the global top 100.

What happens when employees are repeatedly mistreated by customers or expected to remain compassionate despite sustained emotional demands?

Prof. Neha Bellamkonda, Organizational Behaviour & Human Resources Management area, IIMB, examines the psychological and behavioural consequences of these experiences, with a focus on customer mistreatment, emotional labour, and compassion fatigue. Her teaching interests include Micro OB and experimental designs for behavioural research. Prof. Bellamkonda was also a Visiting Research Scholar at Northern Illinois University (NIU), Chicago, USA, through the Visiting Research Scholar Programme (VRSP).

Her research investigates how employees respond to mistreatment, why bystanders may not intervene, and how adverse interpersonal encounters influence subsequent workplace behaviour. A central focus of her ongoing research is compassion fatigue as an organizational phenomenon. She examines how repeated exposure to others’ distress and sustained expectations of care affect employees, and how organizational practices and working conditions shape these experiences.

Her research has been published in journals like Organizational Dynamics, Organizational Psychology Review and the International Journal of Mental Health and Addiction etc. Her scholarly contributions seek to advance understanding of the emotional and interpersonal dimensions of organizational life, with implications for employee well-being and organizational practices.

What if an exam tested how well students could teach an AI to answer it?

Prof. Subhabrata Majumdar, Decision Sciences area, IIM Bangalore put this to the test in his GenAI course, and the approach has been featured in Financial Express. During the June-July term, 78 MBA students across the core Business Analytics and general MBA elective cohorts took their midterm by building and prompting their own chatbots to answer the exam questions.

Prof. Majumdar developed a custom, password-protected platform on Vercel in two weeks using AI-assisted coding tools. Its no-code Retrieval-Augmented Generation workflow ensured that students without a technical background were not disadvantaged, and grading focused on prompt engineering, parameter tuning and how effectively students put the course material to use.

The chatbots that scored highest shared a common trait, and some students adapted in unexpected ways when the platform ran into limits. Prof. Majumdar explains what the format reveals about decision-making under uncertainty, and his plans to open-source the platform for use across other courses at IIMB.

Twaran 2026 drew the IIMB community together for a morning of running and civic engagement.

Prof. Sumit Saurav, Finance & Accounting area, IIMB, works in asset pricing, options, banking, and economics of regulation. He studies how leverage, market structure, and regulatory design influence trading activity, information transmission, and financial stability.

Prof. Saurav's research focuses on Indian financial markets, where he uses options and derivatives data to study how investors perceive and price risk. His work shows that investor beliefs become distorted when a stock trades near its 52-week high or low and that the lottery-like and bubble-like features of a stock shape how its options are priced.
He also finds that government ownership distorts investors' perception of left-tail risk in public sector bank stocks. His forthcoming work on embedded leverage examines how the leverage built into options and futures shapes where investors choose to trade. His research has been published or is forthcoming in the Journal of Financial Markets, Journal of Corporate Finance, Journal of Futures Markets, and Energy Economics.

His research has earned the CFA Institute Investment Management Award (first prize) in 2022 and the Aditya Birla Capital Best Paper Award (student category) at the International Conference on Financial Markets and Corporate Finance in 2022, and he has consulted with the Multi Commodity Exchange of India on risk management in commodity derivatives.
