Some words become the foundation for a future not yet imagined.

As we revisit a letter written in 1965 by our Founding Director, Prof. P.K. Kelkar, that helped shape IIT Kanpur’s vision, we are reminded that the most consequential ideas are those that dare to look beyond the present and imagine what lies beyond ourselves.

On 14th October 2026, that vision takes a new leap forward.
