What happens when bodies meet technology? You decide!

Introducing OOTFest27: Where We Are… six paid commissions for bold ideas that push the boundaries of physical and digital performance.

Returning in May 2027, IJAD’s live-hybrid performance and technology festival asks one urgent question:

What does it mean to be present now?

Bringing together XR, MR, AI, Human Bodies, Screens, Spaces and Audiences.
We’re looking for original work that explores what happens when physical and digital worlds meet. Not technology for technology’s sake, but ideas that challenge perspectives, question who technology is designed for, and imagine new ways of connecting.

Could your work be part of OOTFest27? We are now opening the call for the artists who will help answer that question

IJAD and OOT are so excited to invite artists and creative technologists to apply for the next OOTFest — our biannual performing arts & technology festival.

WHERE WE ARE

Where We Are is an exploration of presence, resilience and imagination in an age of technological acceleration.

In a world where technology is accelerating faster than ever, what does it mean to be present?

Where are we physically, digitally and emotionally? How are new technologies changing the way we connect, create, perform and imagine? And what happens to our sense of self, community and possibility as the boundaries between the human and technological continue to shift?

We’re looking for professional-level live and hybrid work from artists and creative technologists working with VR, AR, AI, motion capture and other immersive technologies.

📅 May 2027 | In person + online via Open Online Theatre
🎟️ £1,650 bursary + 60% of ticket sales

We’re incredibly excited to announce this year’s mentors for the Open Online Theatre Arts/Tech Residency!

Running from November 2026 to April 2027, this six-month hybrid residency is for early-to-mid-career artists and creative technologists exploring what’s possible with VR, AI, volumetrics, motion capture, live streaming and more.

Residents will bring a creative question, idea or challenge into a space for experimentation and development, with opportunities to collaborate, develop a prototype and receive support from experienced artists, creative technologists and industry experts.

As part of the programme, residents will have access to up to 8 hours of bespoke mentoring, with the freedom to work with mentors according to their own creative priorities and goals.

You are all amazing!

We’ve made such progress (look at the previous release for context) that some of you believe it’s impossible to move forward without more information to solve the puzzles. I have a tendency to agree so I have uploaded more of my father's notes, hoping it will be what we need.

Thank you for all your hard work.

Regarding the Murmur Institute, I have a series of more meetings with the board and can’t discuss until then.

Lawyers be damned! I need you guys,

So another auto-post/glitch happened last night, and I’ll be honest the board is freaking out.

However, thanks to everyone who helped solve that riddle yesterday—we actually managed to get into my dad’s laptop.

I expected an absolute mess of files, but when the screen loaded, there was literally only a single browser tab open. If my dad is anything like me, he needs 1000s of tabs normally (My editor mentioned my dad’s name should be in past tense, but I’m leaving it as is); instead, all it showed was this Google Form. (’m going to link it for you to all try yourselves.) Lawyers fear a treasure trove I’ve just given out to the internet, but I don’t care, also because I’ve been looking through my father's effects (will also upload some relevant things with this post and his views on community made me tear up, so I think it’s best to share here.

Please see if you can make any sense of it and use our new WhatsApp group to help each other.

The residency invites early-to-mid-career artists working across dance, theatre, music, performance and technology to bring a creative question, idea or challenge into a space for experimentation and development.

It seems like everyone is walking around carrying at least one sentence they’ve carefully edited out of every conversation they’ve ever had. You probably think this is just another post trying to prompt a superficial reaction or void where real thoughts get lost in the noise. It isn't.

At the Murmur Institute, we’re far more interested in the quiet truths people keep buried beneath polite answers.

I love my family dearly but now I am at a cross-roads.On one hand, I wish to let any auto-posting my father left to be done; to be done. However, I am aware it is difficult to try and build trust within our Institute when random posts continue to happen.
What is going on?

I am in talks to truly try and answer that question.

While I talk to fellow stakeholders about moving forward, I thought I’d give a few
UPDATES:

- Thank you all beta testers for helping us choose the next public Murmur- we are going live with that in the next few hours.
- As for searching through my father's things. I have found some discoveries, and I can definitely share within the next few days (lawyers are permitting)
- As I trust you all so much, against the better advice of some counsel, I wish to share the Sticky note riddle which was attached to my father's computer...I hope this is the password that will allow me entry, and I can see how he is managing to auto-post so effectively in advanced to our live work.
