2025 marks 23 years in boxing and martial arts for me. Fought my way from being a bullied kid to becoming a Western Canadian Champion and 2x Provincial Champ, 2x Bronze at Nationals in high school.

After over 30 fights (boxing and kickboxing combined) I’ve channeled that energy into my other aspects of my life. Boxing and martial arts have definitely saved my life more than once. I owe a lot to the art and community along the way. 🙏🏻

I’ve been in animation for over 15 years now, and I came across these pictures that brought back so many memories.

I remember my uncles getting my brother and me these Ultimate Guide books for X-Men and Spider-Man. We were absolutely obsessed with them. I used to bring them to school just to show my friends, and my brother and I would spend hours having drawing sessions, literally just copying the artwork straight out of those books.

We’d also spend countless hours playing games like X-Men vs. Street Fighter and Marvel vs. Capcom. We were completely obsessed with these characters, their stories, and everything about that world.

Looking back, it’s crazy how much those little moments influenced my life and shaped the career I have today. What started as two kids sharing a love for comics, video games, and drawing became the foundation for a lifelong passion for art and animation.

It’s funny how you don’t realize it at the time, but those little childhood moments can end up shaping so much of who you become. by @ikhandle
