I wanted to share this tattoo on a day when everyone would truly see it turns out it was meant to be Valentine’s Day. ♥️🫰🏻♥️
Julia and I created her very first tattoo together. The idea was hers, but the flow we caught while working on it was something I deeply appreciated.

Every detail, every corner of this piece felt completely right to me. Like Mimar Sinan calling it his masterpiece, I proudly present this work to you.

Knowing how much Leon loves octopuses, the first thing that came to my mind was the documentary My Octopus Teacher 🐙

A little while ago, he sent me a video from one of his dives where he had the sweetest little encounter with an octopus, and somehow that little moment ended up becoming this tattoo.

I think every day I fall in love with my job a little more. Not only because I get to draw beautiful things, but because every image comes with a story, a memory, a tiny piece of someone’s life. And honestly, that might be my favorite part of tattooing

Thank you Leon for letting me turn this little story into something you can carry with you. 🥹🙏🏻

this started as a small idea, but became something very close to me. i stitched each monk with a different thread, each one moving in its own direction. they are separate figures with their own paths, but when you see them all together, the threads become part of the same piece. i love that you never really know where they end you just see them leave the frame and continue somewhere else.

i think i like that more than explaining what they mean.

lemme make a weird little poem about it haha:

every monk has a thread.
none of them knows where the others are going.

neither do i.

but from where i’m standing,

A little step outside of what I usually do, and honestly this piece really pushed me beyond my own boundaries hahaha it feels like opening a completely new page, and honestly really excited about it

Thank you so much, Silan, for trusting me with this one. And a little detail ; the script you see, especially on the lower part, is actually a language I made up myself haha. I’m obviously very inspired by Thai script and the way it flows, but none of it is an existing language. It’s just my own little visual language.

Months and months later, I finally found the chance to share this little trade with my lovely friend Selin @selintahtakilic 🥹🌼

I tattooed her as a little daisy girl — surrounded by the same daisies — and in return, she taught me how to sew. Honestly, this is one of my favorite kinds of exchange.

There’s something so beautiful about trading skills instead of things. You share a little piece of your own world with someone, they share a little piece of theirs with you, and somehow you both leave knowing something you didn’t know before.

So yes, if you have something you’d love to teach me, I’m always open to little creative trades hehe. I want to learn everything. 🥹
