When I loose my way in life, especially within myself, I often go back to this video to remind me of that beautiful, vibrant, fearless and hopeful young Ili who created some awesome experiences, build amazing friendships and connection and even landed a few shows through her love of food. Before TV, recipe books, endorsements deals, content creation, own businesses etc. I just had a feeling in my gut that I wanted to share what I knew about food. The reason and purpose behind this was simple. I was desperate to preserve my family recipes and hoping that by sharing the food that I grew up eating and cooking it I would encourage others to do the same. The thought that my neneks recipes would cease to exist if I stop cooking it, crushed me. What are we without the food we grew up eating and enjoyed with family and friends. That was my purpose. I got asked today what is our drive/purpose and instantly I realised that it always goes back to this. The full video is up on my YouTube but here are the rough cuts from that day. If you’re new here, hai! I am Ili Sulaiman, driven by food and the people, I tell my stories through recipes and experiences. Shot and edited by the brilliant @muhdhidayatullah and also featuring in the background the brilliant @nasilauk I always knew the people I got involved in my projects always would go far and gosh have these two gone all the way. What a throwback this was and I’m excited that the next season of me will resemble a similar path to this one. by @ilisulaiman
