Ever wanted to run your own club night? Maybe you already have, but you’re curious about how everyone else does it? We’re pulling back the curtains on independent nightlife in Naarm/Melbourne.

HTTP:// How to throw parties is a FREE panel event facilitated by Ellie Nik @illicitempress ( @babiecl.ub ), in conversation with local nightlife and live music event promoters to talk getting started, how to be sustainable, logistics and operations, all the things nobody tells you, and the most major rule of all - there are no rules, so you get to make your own.

Thurs 1 October
7pm - 9.30pm
@miscellania_

No more gatekeeping! There’s always room for more parties!

HTTP:// will be in conversation with…

- Anthony Zayler @zaylerthehuman ( @delightlabel )
- Dan Gorza @girl_tool ( @hydeparkhifi )
- Slam Ross @slamross1000 (Dance Party)

After the panel we’ll have an audience Q&A, so audience members will get the chance to directly ask for advice or thoughts from experienced promoters with years of parties under their belt.

Entry is FREE but please register via the link in bio 📬 taken in Miscellania by @illicitempress

@illicitempress is a writer, creative director, and the promoter behind Melbourne underground event series @babiecl.ub .

Ellie first started promoting as part of a team producing HELL in 2014, a weekly Saturday club night at The Liberty Social (RIP). She went on to do guest art curatorship at boutique nightlife events before taking time off to work and study, eventually returning to nightlife in 2019 to work in Social Media and Marketing for Laundry Bar. She there launched the first 2 experimental Babie Club events. Since then, Babie Club has run 20+ events across acclaimed Melbourne venues including The Toff, New Guernica and Miscellania, hosted international artists like Umru (US) and Petal Supply (CAN), as well as run local shows for nationally touring acts like Donatachi and Mumfighter.

Babie Club’s signature concept events are often focused on internet subcultures and niches in gaming, music and art. Events are focused on immersive world building and incorporate interactive elements with high-energy dancefloors.

swipe for a more readable version ➡️ this is a very rudimentary breakdown; keep in mind also that each venue has different inclusions in their hire, and different stipulations for the promoter 💭 by @illicitempress
