Sometimes you have to flip your perspective… 🙃 by @illusionsinverted

You hear it all the time from manifestation ‘gurus’- just decide and create your reality… while in ‘reality’ it’s just not always that easy- or we’d all be doing it. 🙄

They say… Just decide who you want to be. Embody that version of yourself, and your reality will follow.

Okay, but HOW do you just decide?!

How do you suddenly become the person who has the success, the abundance, the health, the relationship… or whatever it is you’re trying to create, when you still have thoughts, beliefs, and emotions tied to the old version of yourself?

So naturally, I wanted to document my thoughts on this… ✨

Instead of trying to force yourself to just decide that you’re someone new, decide to have the CONVICTION to become someone new.

The conviction to identify, challenge, and eradicate the thoughts and beliefs that keep you attached to your old identity.

Start by making two lists:

✨ The thoughts and beliefs that belong to your OLD identity.

✨ The thoughts and beliefs that belong to the NEW identity you’re creating.

Then, every time an old thought or belief shows up, recognize it for what it is. Something that belongs to a version of you that you’re no longer choosing to be.

You don’t have to magically believe everything about your new identity overnight.

You just have to be committed to no longer feeding the beliefs that contradict it.

Maybe that’s what just deciding really looks like.

Not one magical moment of certainty, but a decision you keep making (over and over and over again) until the new version of you becomes the natural one. ✨

Must- read books to change your thinking… and, thereby… change your life.

- Don’t Believe Everythjng You Think (Joseph Nguyen)
- Man’s Search for Meaning (Viktor E. Frankl)
- The Untethered Soul (Michael Singer)
- Owning Your Own Shadow (Robert Johnson)
-
Also really helpful for changing your perspective during difficult times. Xo

Had a little mid-flow wardrobe change - wait for it lol 😂 it was a little hot outside here in South FL … anyhow, this was taken from my sister’s home - of course I couldn’t just sit still - had to do some yoga flows for fun- loved the whimsical vibe. Although, the TILE floor wasn’t ideal for a headstand… 😂

“I am not afraid of storms, for I am learning how to sail my ship.” - Louisa May Alcott

The fear is part of it-
you don’t find yourself by avoiding the storm… you meet yourself inside it.

Life can feel incredibly uncertain at times, but I’m not turning back. by @illusionsinverted

I have scoliosis- a moderate curvature of the spine. And in 8th grade I was told I’d need to wear a brace through high school because at my age it would only get worse…

I remember thinking… no. That’s absolutely not happening.

At the time, I did gymnastics - and with every drill I kept visualizing—really seeing—my muscles pulling my spine back into place.

I didn’t know if it would work… but I believed it could despite being told ‘there’s nothing you can do’.

Months later, I went back for another X-ray. I should’ve been more nervous, but instead I felt this quiet confidence.

The chiropractor walked in a bit shocked and said,
‘Well this is not what I expected… but your spine actually improved slightly.” - and that trajectory meant no brace. I remember telling him so proudly what I did so he’d share it with other kids like me…

That moment stayed with me though…

Because it showed me something I’ve never forgotten-
our minds are far more powerful than we give them credit for.

And as I’m doing these inversions and poses pushing the limits of my back bends, I’m amazed at how our bodies truly only limit us to what our minds tell us we can - or cannot- do.
