She can do it all: from haute couture at Givenchy to fashion for the masses as creative director at Uniqlo. I wanted to interview Clare Waight Keller for a long time and Uniqlo finally made it happen. And what a great talk! Clare is so much fun and not afraid to ruffle some fashion feathers. And we talked about it all: her first job at Calvin Klein (yes, she worked with Carolyn Bessette), the roaring 90s and why they can never be copied, her stint at Givenchy and Meghan Markle’s wedding dress, why fashion houses don’t want to hire women at the top, Uniqlo’s unique DNA and of course her own line there. My favorite piece: the fluffy cashmere sweater I bought (and Cate Blanchett has it too, if you want another reason to get it). CATE WAS GREAT! And so was Nina Hoss. What a night! Electra/Persona is based on the play by Sophocles and the film by Ingmar Bergman. It started with a coin toss: who was going to play what roles tonight. Cate ended up with Clytemnestra/Alma and Nina with Electra/Elisabeth. Not sure if the marriage between Electra and Persona worked, but both pieces were spellbinding and the acting superb. Cate and Nina played together for the first time in the film TÁR and (#howcanimakethisaboutme) I interviewed them both at the time. I saw the play with other fangirls @brouwerkevin and @reneveldhuis who I met at The Seagull last year in London - extra fun! PS I only filmed during curtain call, the other pics are promotion material by the National Theatre. Aging is cool! Fashion’s new muse is the older woman… who hasn’t aged. Just a couple of wrinkles (not too many!), still thinner than thin. Authenticity is the buzzword, but at the same time we are told we need ozempic, botox and deep plane facelifts to keep up with the new beauty standards. And even then, you’re criticized if it’s all too obvious. Damned if you do, damned if you don’t - how do we play along with these mixed messages? Perfection vs authenticity, forever young vs aging is cool? I wrote an essay about it for the new edition of ELLE, which is all about being our unapologetic selves. Miss Stevie was more interested in the free Charlotte Tilbury Beauty Light Wand, but she’s only 4 months old. Also in this issue: my film column about ‘The Other Bennet Sister’, who isn’t as witty as Lizzy or as beautiful as Jane: a new series on HBO Max that puts introverts in the spotlight. In het kersverse modenummer van @fdpersoonlijk: mijn verhaal over Damien Duarte, de tassenfluisteraar. Midden in het drukke centrum van Amsterdam, verscholen op een stil plekje op de Nieuwezijds Kolk, heeft hij zijn atelier: Renaissance Leather Amsterdam. Daar tovert hij vooral designertassen terug naar hun voormalige glorie, maar in principe kun je met alle leren spullen bij hem terecht
