🌟What I wore, where I went, what I ate at the cape winelands on Day 4 in South Africa 🇿🇦 To Cape Town via a stop in Franschhoek.

7 Sep 2025

Franschhoek is known as the food and wine capital of SA. The valley is huge! Wish we had spent more time here to explore the estates, a night here would be nice.

Fun to hop on hop off the Franschhoek wine tram, there’s even a complimentary glass of wine onboard. There are several lines to take you to different parts of the valley.

PS: can also drive but it can be challenging as the roads to the wine estates can be quite narrow. Plus the tram ride is part of the Franschhoek experience!

Went to @bartinney wine estate as recommended by the local guide.

For wine tasting…

… walk among the vines..

…and great views!

Second and last stop for lunch at @boschendal wine farm.

It was farm to table dining - very tasty, fresh and healthy! Rooibos tea is grown in SA so we got to try a variety of flavours here.

Another long drive before we reach Cape Town - it is my vibe. Wish we had spent more time here to explore the city too.

Table Mountain from the waterfront at the harbour area - our home for the next few days.

Can you see the “tablecloth” over Table Mountain? It is a flat cap of clouds that spills over the mountain’s edges like a slow-motion waterfall. If it does not disappear, we may not be able to go up Table Mountain the next day. Stay tuned for Day 5 to find out if we did! by @ilovelongvacation

This International Women’s Day I’m hopping on the #nationalitytrend 🌏.

Celebrating fearless women—and the allies—who break barriers. My bravest travel-related moves? Solo travelling ✈️… and becoming a tour guide 🗺️.

That’s me at 🇸🇬’s Haji Lane 🎨—a colourful street where pilgrims once stayed while preparing for the Haj. I’ve been meaning to do a full post… but haven’t gotten around to it yet. Like this post if you want me to!

Meet Salt &Pepper 👻 🎃

Sorting through my Sapporo souvenirs and realizing how early Japan gets into the spooky spirit! 🧭 Got these boo-tiful Halloween treats way back in August. 🖤 by @ilovelongvacation

Can you really see Cape Town in one day? 👀🇿🇦
We tried — four highlights, one very full day!

Table Mountain, Robben Island, Bo-Kaap & V&A Waterfront.

And stay till the end… because the best part wasn’t a landmark. They are the moments we didn’t plan for - the streets coming alive with music, dancing and smiles.

I’m such a latergrammer… 😂

This time last year in Knysna 🇿🇦 — getting ridiculously close to elephants 🐘, chasing wild coastlines 🌊 and ending the day on the lagoon. 🌅

Last few days in Guangzhou. 3 - 4 April 2026. by @ilovelongvacation

Funny how every day in Guangzhou started and ended with food. But the weight gain is no joke. 1-2 April 2026.

⚠️ No AUDIO cos I like the original audio - very local vibes so swipe and watch the videos! by @ilovelongvacation

Core memories:

🏛️Malaya Heritage Centre has reopened!

🏡House warming cum may birthdays and Mother’s Day celebrations at bro’s new place

🍡Fruit mochi which got many people asking where I go them on the way home 😝 more photogenic than they tasted

🥓 Had bacon tempura for the first time 😋 do try

🇸🇬 The Albatross File Exhibition. Learnt more about our history. Do visit

🏃‍♀️ Running is a good way to explore Singapore! by @ilovelongvacation

Yangshuo ➜ Guilin

The view after conquering Laozhai Hill.

28-31 March 2026

Panoramic views of the Li River and Xingping Village iconic karst mountains.

A pic to commemorate the short but steep hike which was quite challenging. Was literally climbing in the parts with no trails!

Caught the Liu San Jie performance on the Li River. Nature was the stage again. See previous post!

Wandered through Xingping’s charming streets.

Taroful lunch back in West Street before an hour van ride back to Guilin. A quick, alternative travel option for those who don’t want to take the 4-hour cruise - see previous post.

Thought Sun & Moon Pagodas look more charming in the day - see previous post.

Back in Zhengyang Pedestrian Street to chill

Dinner comprised a dish which is like yong tau fu and…

…the very local Guilin Oil Tea (a bit like thunder tea rice)

Christmas came early in Reed Flute Cave which was quite spectacular.

Very good commentary and illuminations - this is the Journey of the West sea palace!

Of course, bubble tea…

…and Guilin Rice Noodles (and snails) before heading back to Guangzhou.

Learnt the local way of ordering - 二两干拌桂林米粉 (literally means 100 grams of dry noodles!) and finishing off with soup after eating most of the noodles! by @ilovelongvacation
