An extraordinary Festival awaits: introducing the 2027 London Handel Festival ༄

Highlights include the return of our Principal Ensemble in Residence, Arcangelo, and Artistic Advisor Jonathan Cohen for three special programmes, alongside The English Concert in a rare concert performance of Handel’s Admeto, re di Tessaglia. We’re also thrilled to welcome Il Pomo d’Oro and the Monteverdi Choir for their London Handel Festival debuts.

Closing the Festival is the return of the Handel Opera Studio’s acclaimed production of Aci, Galatea e Polifemo at Trinity Buoy Wharf.

With staged works, world-class performances and new ways to experience Handel’s music, 2027 promises to be another very special year for the London Handel Festival.

For the new single from @maxvolbers' album "Wunderkammer: Mr. Telemann's Cabinet of Curiosities," @ilpdo's concertmaster @alfiabakieva arranged two polonaises from the so-called Rostock Manuscript, a rarely performed corner of Telemann's output.

Bakieva, who is of Tatar heritage, specializes in Baroque repertoire while also having a particular affinity for folk music, improvisation, and the interplay between art and folk traditions. The arrangement's folk-inflected melodies and brisk dance rhythms sit at the Eastern European end of Telemann's stylistic range, alongside the French and Italian idioms explored elsewhere on the album.
