I was in a Panera a couple of weeks ago and I saw a couple freaking out at a fast food worker for their food taking longer than expected. The girl had been on the verge of breaking down and the man was tapping his foot anxiously while talking down on the minimum wage worker. People forget how good things are. They are in an air conditioned building, they have nice furniture, and food in abundance around them, yet the world is ending due to a Panera bread worker neglecting one order. The couple eventually got their food, they left the restaurant and got into a brand new Mercedes sat in the parking lot for a while, I imagine eating their food; I don’t know that thing was tinted tf out. However, the couple had freaked out and feared they wouldn’t be served in a timely fashion. They had neglected any mannerisms and chose to ruin someone’s day due to fear of their food being forgotten. I think more people need to enter situations of true fear and fret, I am a terrible example of this sort of thing, a true example would be those who serve. Military, police, firefighters, those who confront the real realities of risk and when it is ok to freak out and lose touch. Nonetheless, when I am on a crane in Paris(foreign country) not even 24 hours since my plane landed; and I have to get down and re-enter a 700ft tall building and then descend 70 flights of stairs in hopes the beeping I heard at the top of the crane was not an alarm I had triggered. Dealing with the thoughts of ending up in French custody while hearing voices in the stairwell that I am descending slowly. I can then say I felt Fear… and not the kind that makes you belittle Panera workers.
