I haven’t posted on here in like a year but im finally working on a project im excited about and want to share! I’m starting a draft to a kids book based on my love for chicago! The main purposes of this book are to: highlight chicago & chicago history, support phonemic awareness by making it an alphabet book, & to showcase a variety of different areas & experiences of the city (so many books like this only focus on the north side & loop but by doing that, you’re omitting so many perspectives and so many amazing parts of chicago that make it the wonderful city it is). 😌

I just finished & gifted this surprise Spaghetti Sunset sweater vest to Annabelle!🥰🍝💫🌅
I loosely followed the @sdgknits “fame whore” sweater vest pattern (but changed a few things). I used Caron Spice Cakes yarn in the shade “cherry sunshine” and I used about 1.5 cakes! 🧶❤️
I also handmade a little nametag for the inside! I carved a rubber eraser to say “love, izzie” and then stamped it onto an old tshirt with the Speedball oil-based block printing ink. I then embroidered the edges with a simple whip stitch and sewed the corners beneath the collar!
This was so fun to make & i LOVE surprising my loved ones w handmade goods 🤍🤍

I’ll call this a work in progress because I seem to be at a stalemate with this bag! 😩

I knitted her up a few weeks ago, and I am so happy with the shape and drape, BUT I definitely used the worst possible type of yarn for this project bc it lacks stability and stretches out soooo much the second you put ANYTHING in it. I am planning on reinforcing the straps, but I think i will need to add some sort of lining to the interior as well. I am not a seamstress, so this is definitely going to be a challenge for me. If you have any ideas please let me know! 🪡🧵🧶

I am obsessed with the color gradient though!🖤🤍🖤🤍

KNIT SHORTS KNIT SHORTS!!!💗✨

Finally finished this pair of pink knit shorts last night & obviously i HAD to get some fit pics 🥰

This took me about a week or two +/- to whip up and i am so happy w the results! Every time i knit something new, i feel my brain grow more and more!

A slightly belated mini 2023 crochet year in review. Here are some finished AND work in progress pics from projects throughout the year.🌟
🧶I made not one but TWO granny square blankets! One for me (as pictured in slides 1-3 and 5), and one for Um Yousef as a gift (pictured in slides 8-10). The cats loooooove snoozing on this blanket! This type of blanket is so fun & honestly pretty mindless to make. I was able to crank out the smaller one in about 5 weeks (give or take), and I was on/off working on the larger one for about 6 months.
Biiiiiiig shoutout to @kelly_schertle for gifting me multiple cakes of the pink/yellow/purple gradient yarn for my big blanket! I am obsessed w this colorway and seriously wouldn’t have been able to create such a large piece without this generous gift. (Yarn prices do be adding up😔)
🧶I made a handful of hats this winter including some cat ear hats like the ones pictured in slides 4 & 5. Made one for Maria as a gift & kept one for myself :-)
🧶For Christmas, I made my mama and her puppy @norman_weenie_dog a matching beanie & puppy granny vest! They can match when they go on their walks now! 🥰
🧶Throughout the year, I made a few versions of meshy market bags such as the one displayed in photo 6! The one pictured was made out of recycled denim! I ended up gifting this one to Asmaa & made a matching one for Manar! I also made one using pink acrylic yarn.
As we enter the new year, I am setting intentions to crochet more and finally get going on my knitting journey! Last year, I knitted a few scarves for people, but 2024 is the year of expanding past knit scarves… I’m talking about sweater vests, pillows, socks mayhaps??? Who knows! The possibilities are endless.

I made a “free Palestine” stamp and have been gluing these makeshift posters all around Chicago 👀 maybe you’ll be able to spot one near you.
