As soon as press play aka video game was decided as woosah’s theme, i knew i had to pay tribute to one of my favorite games of all time— undertale. the dumbest yet silliest game about bones, spaghetti, puns and most importantly ragebait.
Sans is the most frustrating boss i’ve ever had the displeasure of facing, a true experience where i had to keep retrying for minutes on end,,, only to flop an embarrassing amount of times,,, look up youtube tutorials ,,, end up even MORE lost than before ,,, eventually rage quitting the game ,,, and watching dan & phil play the game instead.

in this piece, i wanted to bring the audience along on this frustrating experience and feel the triumph of defeating an impossibly hard boss together.
honestly this was so scary to try out— straying from the DANCE aspect of a DANCE show to try and break the fourth wall and just hope that people laugh … #vulnurability

but i wanted to thank lore for being down to help make impossibly difficult choreo (nobody does a double jazz split except lore bruh, that’s my goat) and dealing with my unorganized brain 😔.
to my DANCERS, thank you for trusting and going along with my insane ideas. you guys pulled off such difficult choreo (not to mention, TUTTING, something so hard to learn) in four rehearsals … like what? yall da real determination 🙂‍↕️🔥 so grateful that i’ve been privileged to share the stage with such awesome humans 🫶

my goal with dance in general is to have fun and bring silliness everywhere i go. i’m so grateful for this crowd who allowed a weird closeted theatre kid like me to invite them into my world. stay determined and mega that vania asf.

This is my second creative project revolving around me being beyoncé lol. Two years ago, I wanted to pretend to be beyoncé, the “main character” if you will. I always loved being in the spotlight and dancing because it feels like I can become somebody else, somebody who isn’t bobbi, instead “bobbeyonce”.

I kept carrying this character along with me for battles, performances, even classes. Knowing that i could become someone else, even for a moment, brought me comfort. I didn’t have to watch back my videos because that wasn’t me dancing, that was bobbeyonce. And with that began my journey in separating bobbi, who is filled with self-doubt and insecurities, from bobbeyonce, a confident baddie who doesn’t take shit from nooooobody.

Eventually, the facade broke when i had to face myself after reach 2024. My team had won with such an awesome set, but i didn’t feel accomplished, if anything i felt empty? Everyone kept rewatching the videos, but all i could feel was shame. How could I feel confident when I looked a certain way? How could I believe that i was a good dancer? Why did I think I deserve this?
The snowball of insecurity that I had been building had finally crushed me.

Thus began a long journey to finding happiness as bobbi, someone who is confidently insecure, kinda lazy, likes to dance and is embarrassingly passionate. I’m still on the path to finding myself again, but I wanted to create one piece to encapsulate that journey in a fun and playful way.

Instead of just me being the “main character”, I wanted to share that spotlight with others i respect as dancers and as people. I wanted to show the importance of being in the spotlight as well as being in the background. Like these tutting pictures would have looked like butt if it was just me standing there, it only looks good coz everyone else was there.

This caption is getting way too long (obligatory to mention), so I’m gonna end it here. If you’ve read this far, Happy New year! Here’s to actually posting projects and whatever shitty art we make lol

GANKED 101 - choreographers cut 👅
this was my first set to stage that i ever got to make with the absolute best @uak.tyx8 . at first i was really nervous that i wouldn’t live up to expectations or that i wouldn’t be able to make something that i would be satisfied with. however, thanks to the warm support and guidance of those around me i made something that im proud to say “hey i made this!!”. i know its not perfect and could’ve been better, but im just happy that i tried. i’m happy that i tried and have something to show for it because i saw it through and that’s something to be proud of 🤓🔥. me saying all this corny stuff about this goofy ahh set is crazy but this is the life of a big cookie.
