This is a comic @imahtabrezaee and I created, featured in @coinoppress
Our comic explores the theme of “period” and the censorship and stigma surrounding menstruation in Iran. As Mahtab writes:

“Because even a shopkeeper hiding my pads in a black plastic bag makes my blood boil.”

Something as natural as menstruation is still treated as something to hide, even in the simplest everyday interactions. This comic is important to both of us because we believe that women everywhere deserve to exist without shame surrounding their bodies.

There is no reason to hide our periods. There is nothing to be ashamed of. There never was. ❤️ by @imahtabrezaee

Very happy to share that our comic The Alarm is part of the Clown Exhibition at NAUND in Leipzig, and is also featured in the accompanying small press magazine.🎪 A huge thank you to @paperunknown and @naund__ for including our work and for creating this project. We’re so happy to be part of it!🤹🏻

The Alarm was inspired by the experience of living through war in Iran, how despite the fear, people are forced to keep moving forward. When explosions become the sounds that wake you up, life somehow keeps moving. I only hope that one day, no one anywhere in the world will have to wake up to them.

Never Walk Alone💜⁷

Some of you may have seen this comic before, but we'd love to share it with even more people! (:

This comic was created during a time of war and internet blackouts in Iran. Around the same time, BTS's comeback and music were among the few things that reminded me I wasn't alone.

Thank you to @rentedtechnology for publishing it in Rented Technology Zine: Music + Community. ‌♡⁩
