In my tiny corner of the world, cooking, cooking, cooking. Feeding everyone around me. Just please bring me a water. That's all I ask.

Everything is an opportunity to make something artful. Every emotion is a color on the palette. There are no good and bad colors, they just are. & each one is needed.

Tonight I tossed & turned. Stuck in a dream where the tables kept sitting. I woke up & looked at my watch, 5:30am. I fell back asleep & asked the people in my dream to stop seating the restaurant. I needed to stop ordering in cods. I told them it was five in the morning & I need time to clean the restaurant & get some sleep. They finally let me go, the dream drifting farther & farther away. Then, about an hour later, a gentle cat paw on my chest rouses me awake again. A different kind of diner needs breakfast. My favorite furry customer.

Through the valley I walked, faster & faster. Running in fear. Until I realized the crackling footsteps behind me were an echo of my own feet. There, in the darkness, alone, I met myself again & again. Slowly climbing into the light holding, my own hand. The one breath that's always been there for me, filling my chest. My name is Jamie.

Some recipies are set in stone. Others need to be fluid. This chiffon cake has seen more reincarnations than a cat with nine lives; yet continues to teach me, grow, & change with every bake.
