the finale of my conservation club journey ❤️ i would like to thank all of my mentors for all of their endless support in my endeavors on the path towards my future career! i couldn’t have done it without them and the support of the metroparks ☺️ i’m excited to share my next adventure when i go to college in september! taken in Allegheny National Forest by @imanaslamconservation

hey there!! hasn’t it been a hot minute… well, i just wanted to do a little live update, even if it isn’t entirely conservation focused. these photos go all the way back to november and show a lot of things that have happened done. i got into my dream school, lost a dear friend, and even placed in my science olympiad event at regionals: water quality! i’ve also made soap and made my journey to bass pro for the first time ever😉 i’m hoping with the weather getting warmer i’ll be able to do a lot more in the conservation aspect. thank you all for following along! by @imanaslamconservation

it was a cold (yet rewarding) day at conservation club! not only did we tear down an old bridge, we also removed an invasive plant: honeysuckle. i’m very tired because i even helped clean up my school’s football stadium beforehand, though it’s so nice to see the beautiful fall colors 🍂 taken in Swan Creek Preserve Metropark by @imanaslamconservation

yet another amazing conservation club with @metroparkstoledo ! yesterday we reintroduced native plants into glass city metropark which used to be a waste dump. it’s so amazing to see a public space that’s full of life once again ❤️ even saw a funky spider which i hope wasn’t venomous…🕷️ by @imanaslamconservation

conservation club no. 2! this time we did a river cleanup for #cleanyourstreamsday in the maumee river. our group gathered a bunch of trash, including a whole rug and some metal thingy???? on top of that, we got to see some cool creatures 😙 taken in Providence Metropark by @imanaslamconservation

first conservation club today! had lots of fun meeting new people and now have a little group (GO YELLOW TEAM!) today was just a little survivor type activity where we had many stations to attend :) next one is later this month so stay tuned! taken in Side Cut Metropark by @imanaslamconservation

this is a spotted lanternfly. they’re an invasive species native to asia that were first discovered in ohio during 2020. they’re incredibly harmful to our ecosystem as they secrete honeydew after eating. this honeydew promotes the growth of sooty mold which can stress the trees affected. these trees are more vulnerable to pests and disease and also have stunted growth due to a disruption in photosynthesis from the sooty mold. the loss of these trees + plants also causes harm to species that rely on them for habitat and/or food. this photo was taken today and really shocked me to know i saw one right in my backyard ! by @imanaslamconservation

over this past month, i’ve had the pleasure of helping @blackswampcattle ! not only have i assisted with moving the cows to graze on native flora, but i’ve also gotten to assist in processing chickens! i’ve learned so much about not only the animals but also conservation and soil health 🐄🐓🌱 by @imanaslamconservation
