About Imani: Imani Black is a Dallas-based creative whose work spans photography, videography, art direction, exhibitions, and creative projects. From her documentary series Day With Dallas to exhibitions like Cyber Dallas, she uses her lens to capture the energy, emotion, and atmosphere of a moment while creating opportunities to highlight and support the city’s creative community. Her clients and collaborations include SXSW, the State Fair of Texas, VSCO, and Sony Alpha Female.

On Saturday, we hosted an Artist Talk at the studio.

As the curator, I knew a lot about the exhibition already, but learning even more about @studioguillermorios’ influences, heritage, and processes was so exciting!

This exhibition explores the identity and heritage of fashion designer @StudioGuillermoRios as a Mexican American building his life and career in America.

The exhibition includes his wearable art, photography, and paintings.

Thank you to @artboostdallas and everyone who attended my workshop this past Saturday!

I led a workshop titled “The Squeakiest Wheel Gets Oiled First,” where I shared how artists can become more visible creatives while remaining authentic to themselves and uplifting others along the way.

It was so much fun weaving my journey from Imani’s Cyber Fantasy (2022) to Cyber Dallas (2025), and everything I did in between to keep the work alive until I felt satisfied with where it was going.

I’ve given presentations before, but this was a whole nother level. *Chris Rock voice* 😂

I’m grateful I got to share my story, but even more grateful for the opportunity to remind other creatives that you always have to advocate for yourself, create your own opportunities, and keep showing up.

Never stop dreaming. Never stop believing, y’all! 🖤
