1 year together as husband and wife 💖

They say the first year of marriage is the honeymoon period - a time to enjoy each other before life gets tough. This year taught us that unfortunately life doesn’t always go according to plan. Between moving homes, a cancer diagnosis, cancelling our honeymoon, changing so many plans, and suddenly having a house full of family, our first year of marriage looked nothing like we imagined. It wasn’t the year we envisioned when we said “I do,” but through every unexpected challenge, it showed me more than ever what those vows truly mean.

Adnan, I truly don’t know how I would have gotten through this year without you. You have been my greatest source of strength, comfort, and support, and there is no one else I’d rather have beside me through the good, the bad, and everything in between. I feel so incredibly lucky to do life with you and to be loved by you.

This year wasn’t filled with the memories we planned to make, but I know we have so much ahead of us. Here’s to brighter days, postponed honeymoons, future adventures, and hopefully a little less chaos. 😚

On May 5, just three days before my 31st birthday, I was diagnosed with lymphoma.

For months, I had been feeling unlike myself - constantly exhausted, persistent body aches, and struggling with symptoms I kept convincing myself were normal. I attributed it all to a busy season of life: work, moving, travel, and a packed social calendar. It was easier to believe I was simply overwhelmed than to consider that something might actually be wrong.

As time went on, my symptoms continued to worsen. The week we were supposed to leave for our delayed honeymoon, I began experiencing high fevers and chills. Less than 24 hours before our flight, I finally decided to go to the hospital to get checked out. I walked in wearing a dress and sandals, expecting to spend a few hours there, get some medication, and continue on with my day. I had no idea my entire life was about to change.

After doctors discovered lesions in my liver, spleen, and lungs, I was admitted to the hospital. What followed were three long weeks of tests, procedures, uncertainty, and waiting as doctors worked to determine the cause. Throughout that time, I held onto hope that it could be anything but cancer. Eventually, however, I was faced with the difficult reality of a lymphoma diagnosis - a reality I am now learning to navigate one day at a time.

If there is one thing this experience has taught me, it is this: prioritize your health and listen to your body. I was quick to dismiss what I was feeling and reassure myself that everything was fine, even when it wasn’t. Don’t ignore the signs from your body that something may be wrong.

Throughout this journey, I have been overwhelmed by the love and support I’ve received from family and friends. I truly cannot express how grateful I am for every message, phone call, prayer, and kind gesture. Your support and positivity have carried me through some of the hardest days, and I will never forget it. And most of all, I’m beyond thankful to have a husband who hasn’t left my side - from countless nights in the hospital, to taking me to every appointment and reading over every test result - I couldn’t do this without you. by @imanmo_

• tearing up the dance floor and tearing up on the dance floor with the our crew 🎉
• being on holiday with everyone we love 🌴
• supporting my husband (!!) at his first influencer event 🩺
• witnessing an iconic jays vs. dodgers series ⚾️
• a quick getaway to Hawaii for some sunshine ☀️
• stealing @neelamvirani as my big sister for the weekend (and setting up our husbands) 👯‍♀️
• recreating photobooth pictures with @alyanaladha 16 years later 📸
• spending time with the best person I’ll ever know before having to say the hardest goodbye 🤍
• watching sound of music (aka healing the trauma) with my sisters @alida.kanani @safiakanani (not pictured because it was too cold to look cute 🥲)
