Hey Mamaaaa,

After a lot of reflection yesterday and honestly over this past year since graduation, I just wanted you to know that I am completely blessed for the 16 years we got to spend together and the countless memories we created. Your love surrounds me every day, and I recognize that I am an embodiment of you. Although things have changed ALOT, I find comfort in knowing that you, along with my other angels, are always watching over me.

I pray that I continue to make you happy and proud. 10 years ago when you made your transition, I feared that by the age of 26, I might forget the sound of your voice, the warmth of your embrace, or the depth of your love. But I know that your love resonates within me more profoundly than I ever imagined.

Thank you for being the epitome of strength, beauty, and devotion. As a beautiful Black woman and a woman of God, you inspire me daily. I appreciate everything you’ve done for me and the many sacrifices you made. Being your only child is a blessing, and I am honored to carry forward the legacy of your remarkable spirit.

Still in disbelief that tomorrow I’ll finally be graduating from The University of Georgia with my Masters in Public Health and 3 Graduate Certificates in African American Studies, Diversity Equity Inclusion, and Disaster Management. I am extremely appreciative of all the love and support over these past 3 years and after today pleaaaase be prepared to be sick of me😊❤️🖤

2022 was a year for the books. Mannnyyy lessons learned and a lot of confidence gained. I focused on being present in the moment, staying in-tuned with myself, and asking for help when I need it. Transparent inner dialogue: I haven’t been this happy in a little minute. It’s not just the stress from grad school but the want and need to be in my mother’s presence. This semester was definitely harder than last for me because I kept feeling like I’ve finally found my passion yet felt empty, alone, and like something is missing (especially last week with Mother’s Day 😓). So to cope with that I chose to immerse myself in anything and everything I could helping everybody but myself... and all that led to was a huuuuuuge burnout 😖😭.

I am completely blessed to have been surrounded by genuine and caring people in Athens (I truly was not expecting that) and the support, late night studying, and mental health check ins have made an everlasting impact. As well as the various accomplishments I’ve had this semester. I’m genuinely just saying this to emphasize that today I am happy ... this week I’ve been happy and that doesn’t happen often so I’m gone brag bout it (also do you seeeee I be looking better than I feeeeeel) 😬
