We aren’t even halfway yet and are already loving this story so much — I just had to share a little of what it’s about.

A little traveler named Christian lives in the “City of Destruction,” a place that won’t last forever. His goal is to reach the “Celestial City,” which stands for heaven and living with the King. Christian hasn’t seen his mom in a while and believes she is there. While traveling, Christian carries a heavy, tight backpack (burden) on his back and comes across some difficult situations. He meets kind friends, like Evangelist, who point him in the right direction when he feels lost and alone…

There’s more to the story, but we haven’t gotten there yet🫢 And the illustrations are beautiful! It’s a book we look forward to reading every night, sometimes more than one chapter at a time🤍📖

Today’s lesson: making fall-inspired playdough🍂 save this for your next Fun Friday☺️

Ingredients
• 2 cups all-purpose flour
• 1/2 cup of salt
• 2 tbsp cream of tartar
• 2 tbsp vegetable oil
• 1 cup boiling water(I let mine cool down a bit so I could mix)
• Food coloring (optional)
• Essential oils (optional for scent) — we used cinnamon bark, clove, and nutmeg

Instructions
1. Mix dry ingredients: Whisk the flour, salt, and cream of tartar together in a large bowl.
2. Combine liquids: Mix your vegetable oil, essential oils(if you’re using them), and food coloring(if you only want one color) directly into 1 cup of boiling water. If you’re not using only one color and skipping essential oils, only add the vegetable oil into the water.
3. Pour and stir: Pour the liquid into the dry mixture. Stir well with a spoon until it forms a sticky dough.
4. Adjust consistency: If the dough feels too dry, add 1/2 cup of boiling water a little at a time. If it feels too sticky, sprinkle in a bit more flour.
5. Knead: Let the dough cool down for a minute until it is safe to touch. Take it out of the bowl and knead it vigorously on a flat surface until it is completely smooth and stretchy.
6. Make colors: Seperate into how ever many colors you want to make and then add in the food coloring! Stretch and fold. Add food coloring and continue to stretch and fold until desired color is achieved.
7. PLAY: If your dough is getting sticky, it’s because your hands are warm — let it rest for a bit and get back to playing!
8. Store: Keep in an airtight container or seal in ziploc bags.

✨TIP: Always make sure to wipe your playing surface and have clean hands before bringing out the playdough. Dirty hands and/or surfaces can cause mold and bacteria quickly!

morning walk, some time at the playground, and then straight to schoolwork🫶🏻 it’s a blessing to be SAHM + homeschool. I always get asked “is it hard?” and I can tell you it’s definitely not easy but it’s worth it✨

take me back asap😩🚐🌅🐋 our campground didn’t have hookups but they did have clean restrooms available! Also, if you don’t want to camp but do want to visit, they have a day-use area with parking right in front of the beach too🫶🏻
