The official name of the Birmingham Raging Bull has been announced… it’s OZZY!

A competition to name the Bull was launched earlier this year, with members of the public invited to send in suggestions for names.

‘Ozzy’ was picked from a shortlist including Brummie, Bostin or Boulton.

The bull was the centrepiece to last year’s Commonwealth Games' opening ceremony and seen by millions of visitors while in its temporary home in Centenary Square.

Ozzy will now be permanently situated in the atrium at Birmingham New Street Station to welcome visitors to the city - and is due to be unveiled in July. by @imjustbrum

Construction on a bull-shaped skyscraper is set to begin in Birmingham in 2027 🙌

From the futuristic Selfridges building to ‘the world’s first octagonal skyscraper’, Birmingham’s skyline is already pretty iconic. But no tower block truly represents the Brummie spirit, until now. Developers have designed a bull-shaped skyscraper for the city centre, with construction aiming to begin in late 2027.

Inspired by the adoration that both Ozzy the Bull and the Bullring bull attract, real estate developer Peaky Builders (based in Singapore) has created the world’s first bull-inspired skyscraper, which will also be Birmingham’s tallest building when finally complete—likely to be in 2030.

The estimated total development cost will be around £110 million and stand at 180 metres tall. To keep disruption in Birmingham to a minimum, the project manager behind HS2 has been hired to keep construction on time and under budget.
