Imeh Featured at DC Art Science Evening Rendezvous (DASER) Talk This is a brilliant video summary of the DASER Talk that took place in celebration of my exhibition Monuments to Our Skies at the National Academy of Sciences @thenasciences. To view the full summary video (3:53 min), visit the link in my bio page on Instagram. The conversation was dynamic and powerful; it discussed the concepts of wellness, faith, and healing in the Black community from the intersecting viewpoint of the arts and sciences. The NAS has put together this brilliant 4-minute video summary of the DASER Talk and the official opening of my exhibition. Monuments to Our Skies is on view until July 1st. If you are in the DC area this summer, do stop by to visit. —- #imoimeh #contemporaryart #africanamericanart #africanart #blackwellness #westfieldstate #columbia #columbiaalumni #yalealumni #yale #yaleuniversity @yaleblackalumninetwork by @imoimeh
My portrait of Frederick Douglass, which was commissioned by Mechanics Hall in Worcester, Massachusetts, is now on view as part of the Portrait Gallery’s permanent collection. I could not be happier, more amazed, or more humbled by how all of this has come together. To learn more about the Mechanics Hall Portraits Project, visit @mechanicshall or see #linkinbio to read an article about this groundbreaking venture. #imoimeh #mechanicshall #portraitsproject #frederickdouglass by @imoimeh
STUDIO IMEH. I am so excited to share with you my portrait of the 19th Century hero Frederick Douglass. The portrait was commissioned by @mechanicshall in Worcester, Massachusetts as part of a mighty initiative called the Portraits Project, an effort to bring to light the stories of Black American luminaries of the 19th Century and their connections to the town of Worcester. This portrait, along with two other stunning portraits of Sojourner Truth, painted by @manu.saluja, and William and Martha Brown, painted by @brenda_zlamany, is now installed in the historic Mechanics Hall Portrait Gallery. These three new works are the first portraits to be commissioned by Mechanics Hall in over a century, and they are the first representations of Black leaders in the institution. There are no words to truly encapsulate exactly how I’m feeling at this moment—but I can tell you with certainty that I am fully aware that this moment is greater than myself, Manu, and Brenda— it’s greater than Mechanics Hall too. It feels spiritual well beyond measure. I can also tell you that no photography of the three portraits will truly demonstrate how intricate or expressive they are. You will need to visit Mechanics Hall to see them for yourselves. The unveiling of the portraits was last night, and it was magical. It was MAGIC! There is more information and photography to come. For now, please enjoy this curated selection of images and videos around the creation of the Frederick Douglass portrait. Please also read the description of the work in the third slide. It offers context for the composition of my painting. This has been one of the most challenging works I’ve been tasked to create in my life as an artist. I feel so much wiser and matured as an artist and thinker for having had this opportunity. Thank you Gloria Hall for your vision, and Mechanics Hall for taking me on this remarkable journey. ❤️🧡💛 Credits: Slide1, Photography, Dean Brown @pulpholyoke Slide 3, Tombstone Description, Jean M. May I share something with y’all? Swipe~~>> Also—Last week’s announcement about my available smaller works drew a tremendous response. I was very humbled by the interest in people collecting my art. Several works sold, but some are still available. Inbox me for access to the catalog. -INI #imoimeh #contemporaryart by @imoimeh
Hey Y’all! My studio is getting a bit crowded, and I need to clear some space for upcoming projects. So, I’ve put together a catalogue of smaller works (ranging from 30 x 30 inches to 4 x 5 feet) that are now available for acquisition with significant price drops. This is a great opportunity for new collectors to invest in original artwork. To help collectors, I allow payments in up to 3 installments Some of the available works truly are statement pieces; I would like them to live in the right spaces (outside my studio). ***To see the full list of available works with their dimensions and prices, please inbox me for the catalogue.*** Share this information widely with your networks. If this Fall Studio Clearance is successful, I might make it an annual thing. Love, Imo … #artwork #artcollecting #imoimeh by @imoimeh

DAYS 1 + 2 | ATLANTA ART FAIR What an incredible first two days in Atlanta. A big highlight has been the conversations with collectors and art lovers from across the country and around the world, each bringing their own perspectives, experiences, and connections to the work. Through SEEN, those conversations continue to return to self-recognition. Beyond being seen by others, what happens when we recognize something of ourselves in a face, a story, a memory, or a work of art? Different places. Different stories. Shared connections. Can’t make it to Atlanta? SEEN is also available to experience and collect online. Visit mahoganygallery.com/exhibitions/seen-atl and discover the exhibition from wherever you are. Five artists. Five practices. Five ways of asking what it means to be SEEN. Imo Nse Imeh. Tasha Beckwith. Nate Austin. Brad Lee. Rosalind Nzinga Nichol. Together, their works move across drawing, painting, illustration, sculpture and handmade paper to explore portraiture beyond likeness toward identity, memory, culture and presence. And for collectors, discover works available for acquisition through Mahogany Gallery. SEE THE ART. SEE THE STORY. SEE YOURSELF. #SEEN #MahoganyGallery #AtlantaArtFair by @imoimeh

PARLIAMENT III Parliament III is still growing. I keep finding new forms within the drawing that demand to be recognized. I feel like I’m making a very rich Nigerian goat meat stew! Each ingredient requires its own unique care and time to prepare. The food must cook slowly-o! Whew! 😮‍💨 #imoimeh #contemporaryart by @imoimeh
The Watcher — Imo Nse Imeh There is something deep about The Watcher by Imo Nse Imeh that has made an impression on me as a human being. Rich, contemplative blues, the bowed figure and clasped hands immediately evoke prayer, reflection, surrender, and spiritual communion. Surrounded by muted pigment and open space, the figure seems to exist somewhere between the physical and spiritual worlds, a quiet presence carrying the weight of what has been seen, felt, and endured. The past few weeks I have personally experienced tragedies, the sudden departures of loved ones. In moments when tragedy touches our communities, prayer can become more than an act of faith. It can be a place of refuge, remembrance, grief, hope, and collective strength. Grief is a complex, often unexplainable phenomonom. The Watcher feels especially timely in this moment. The work invites us to become still, to acknowledge those we have lost, hold close those who are hurting, and consider the power of seeking something greater than ourselves when words alone feel insufficient. Mahogany Gallery is honored and excited to represent the work of Dr. Imo Nse Imeh at the Atlanta Art Fair, continuing our commitment to presenting his evolving practice to collectors and new audiences. The Watcher reminds us that art does not simply decorate our spaces, it can meet us exactly where we are. This is the type of work that drives me, moves me, and inspires me to connect these meaningful works of art to those around the world who may also need a moment of stillness and reflection Atlanta, we look forward to sharing Imo’s work with you. #mahoganygallery #imonseimeh by @imoimeh
