An unforgettable week filled with friendship, music, and collaboration.
I feel incredibly lucky to have had the opportunity to meet some of my favorite musicians in person, work alongside them, and learn from them.

P.S. My GMW friends, sorry I couldn’t tag everyone Instagram wouldn’t let me! :)) So honored to have met each and every one of you, and grateful for the friendships we’ve built.❤️

دوهفته پیش در ورکشاپ موسیقی جهانی که در کنسرواتوار نیوانگلند برگزار شد، این فرصت رو داشتم که به مدت یک هفته سر مستر کلاس های چند نفر از موزیسین های مورد علاقه ام بنشینم، باهاشون معاشرت کنم و درکنارشون اجرا کنم! تجربه ای که فراتر از تکنیک های موسیقی، به درک بیشتر من از مفاهیم عمیق تر دوستی و کار گروهی اضافه کرد✨ by @imonicki

Last week at the Global Music Workshop was filled with music and friendship, a whole week of sharing music and spending time with musicians from different cultures and musical backgrounds.

“Hoy Nazan,” a song by the legendary Onnik Dinkjian, was taught to us by Ara Dinkjian during the Armenian jam session at the workshop, and from that day on, it found a very special place in my heart.

I asked Chris to play this beautiful song with me as a tribute to GMW 2026, all the incredible friends we made there, and the beautiful memories we created together.

P.s: My dear Armenian friends, please forgive me for any mistakes in my Armenian pronunciation :)))

هفته گذشته در ورکشاپ گلوبال میوزیک برای ما پر از موسیقی و رفاقت بود. یک هفته همنشینی با موزیسین های مختلف از فرهنگ ها و پیشینه های متفاوت موسیقیایی.
هوی نازان، از استاد اونیک دینکجیان، آهنگی بود که آرا دینکجیان در جم سشن ارمنی این ورکشاپ به ما یاد داد و این آهنگ از آن روز عمیقا به دل من نشست. از کریس خواهش کردم که این آهنگ رو باهم بازخوانی کنیم، به یادگار از ورکشاپ گلوبال میوزیک ۲۰۲۶، تمام رفقای بی نظیری که در اون پیدا کردیم و خاطرات قشنگی که ساختیم.

“فرای مرزها”: قسمت سوم - از بندر عباس تا لیون

زمانی که زبان از گفت و گو قاصر باشد، موسیقی راوی احساسات میشود. “فرای مرزها” پروژه ای است که با این دیدگاه متولد شد. پروژه ای که هدفش درکنار هم قرار گرفتن موزیسین هایی است که هم زبان و هم فرهنگ نیستند، اما حرف های مشترک بسیار دارند. در هرقسمت، از یک یا چند نفر از دوستانم که ایرانی نیستند دعوت میکنم تا با من هم صدا بشوند. گاهی من آن ها را مهمان نغمه های ایرانی میکنم و گاهی آن ها مرا میبرند به دیار خودشان.

مهمانان این قسمت، لیلیو (ترانه‌سرا، درامر و خواننده) و لویی (ویولنیست و آهنگساز) هستند؛ دو هنرمند اهل شهر لیون فرانسه.
در این قسمت، با افزودن شعری فرانسوی که لیلیو سروده است، تغییرات کوچکی در ترانهٔ «خاطره»، اثر ابراهیم منصفی با بازخوانی مجید سالاری، هنرمندان بندرعباسی از ایران، ایجاد کرده‌ایم.
امیدواریم از شنیدن این اجرای مشترک لذت ببرید🩷

“Beyond Borders” - Episode Three - From BandarAbbas to Lyon

When words fall short, music rises to speak for the emotions. “Beyond Borders” was born from this belief, a project created to bring together musicians who may not share a language or a culture, yet carry so many stories in common. In each episode, I invite one or more of my non-Iranian friends to join their voice with mine. Sometimes I welcome them into the world of Iranian melodies, and sometimes they lead me into the soundscapes of their own homelands.

Our guests in this episode are LILIO (songwriter, drummer, multi instrumentalist, and singer), and Louis(violinist and composer), two artists from Lyon, France.

For this episode, we made a few small changes to “Khatereh,” a song originally by Ebrahim Monsefi which also got very well known through Majid Salari’s cover, artists from Bandar Abbas, Ira⁩n, by adding French lyrics written by LILIO.

We hope you enjoy it🩷⁩⁩⁩

Miles away from home, I turned 22!
I can’t go back home to celebrate this day with my family anymore, but my second family brought a little piece of home back to me here in Boston.🫂

This semester at College was incredibly hard for me, considering everything that happened, and is still happening, in Iran. Severe anxiety, stress, and depression… days and months of not hearing from family and friends, grief, waiting, but still holding onto hope.

Through all of this, I knew how much my family and I had sacrificed for me to be here, pursuing my dreams. I felt responsible to drag my wounded and exhausted body and soul to school and work every single day and not give up.

This semester is finally over, and honestly, I couldn’t have kept going without these beautiful people you see in these photos and videos. I’m beyond grateful they were by my side🫂

این ترم دانشگاه باتوجه به اتفاقاتی که در ایران افتاد و همچنان میفته، برای من خیلی سخت گذشت. اضطراب و استرس و افسردگی شدید، روزها و ماه ها بی خبری از خانواده و دوستان، غم، انتظار اما با امید…
در کنار همه این ها، میدونستم که خودم و خانوادم سختی زیادی کشیدیم که من اینجا در این نقطه از جهان باشم و خودمو مسئول میدونستم که جسم و روح زخمی و تیکه پارم رو هرروز بکشونم دانشگاه و سر کار و کم نیارم. این ترم تموم شد و من بدون این ادمای قشنگی که توی این عکس ها و فیلم ها میبینین نمیتونستم سرپا باشم و ادامه بدم و خیلی زیاد ازشون ممنونم که کنارم بودند🩷

به پایان آمد این دفتر، حکایت همچنان دو سال دیگه باقیست :)
