October is a big month for BABY DOE!

With 13+ screenings, conversations, and special events happening across the country, the film is bringing audiences together in classes, theaters, law schools, and communities to dive into the issues surrounding Gail’s case. From maternal mental health and reproductive justice to the criminal justice system, these conversations are creating space to listen, learn, discuss and ask what needs to change.

BABY DOE follows Gail, a young woman from a conservative community in rural Ohio, who almost 30 years ago gave birth alone and left her newborn in the woods. Now a mother of three, her quiet life is shattered when DNA evidence links her to “Geauga’s Child,” leading to her arrest for murder, despite saying the baby was stillborn.

BILLY PRESTON DOCUMENTARY WINS BOTH BEST FILM AND AUDIENCE AWARD AT LIMEHOF MUSIC DOCUMENTARY FILM FESTIVAL

Billy Preston: That’s the Way God Planned It has won two of the top honors at the @limusichalloffame Music Documentary Film Festival: Best Film and the Audience Award for Best Film.

Directed by Emmy-winning filmmaker Paris Barclay, the documentary explores the extraordinary life and career of Billy Preston, the Grammy-winning musician whose distinctive keyboard playing and collaborations helped shape the music of The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Ray Charles, Aretha Franklin, Eric Clapton and many other legendary artists.

From performing with Mahalia Jackson as a child to recording his own enduring hits—including “Will It Go Round in Circles,” “Nothing from Nothing” and “You Are So Beautiful”—Preston left an extraordinary musical legacy that extended far beyond his own recordings.

The film also examines the deeply personal experiences Preston kept private during his lifetime, offering a more intimate portrait of the man behind the music.

The Audience Award for Best Film was determined entirely by festival attendees, recognizing the documentary that made the strongest connection with the Long Island Music and Entertainment Hall of Fame Music Documentary Film Festival audience.

The Best Film Award celebrates outstanding storytelling and filmmaking, along with a powerful connection to its subject and a lasting impact on audiences.
