Running for a reason! 💗🏃‍♀️

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and today I had the opportunity to run the TC Medtronic 10 Mile — and WOW. What an experience!

This race is SPECTACULAR. And honestly, the spectators are what make it so special. every inch of the course has someone cheering you on — loud music 🎶, hilarious and inspiring signs, cowbells, and even dogs willing to give you a little extra love along the way! 🐶❤️

I wish I had more pictures of all of it…but I was a little busy RUNNING. 😂

My Top 5 moments — in no particular order:

💜 The Purple Rain runners! I tried to stay close to them because the spectators LOVED them! I even got a picture with them at the end!

❤️ Seeing how proud Eric was of me. That one meant a lot. @limitedoutagain

🤗 Seeing Bridget Harrington Smith on the course! The hug, encouragement and motivation were exactly what I needed to keep pushing. @birdiegirlmpls

🌅 The sunrise over the bridge heading into St. Paul. Absolutely priceless. One of those moments you just take in and think, this is pretty incredible.

👮‍♀️🚒 ALL of the people who make this race possible — volunteers, workers, police officers, firefighters and everyone behind the scenes keeping thousands of runners and spectators safe.

And a fun fact most people probably don’t know about me…

In college, for my Risk Management class, I actually did a report on the Twin Cities Marathon! There is SO much planning and risk management that goes into keeping everyone safe during an event like this. It was my favorite class in college — which probably explains why I ended up loving insurance so much. 😂

Thank you Bridget and Cheryl for cheering me on and to my husband for being there at Mile 9 AND the finish line! ❤️

Running for something bigger than myself made today even more meaningful. 💗

WHAT IS A MISOGI? 🔥

One BIG challenge you choose to do that pushes you way outside your comfort zone.

Something hard enough that you’re not completely sure you can do it.

It’s not about winning or being the best.

It’s about doing something hard, discovering what you’re capable of, and coming out stronger on the other side. 💪

One big challenge. Once a year. No excuses.

10 miles. Very little training. 😬 (that's why it's a Misogi for me)
Running for Breast Cancer Awareness and reminding myself that I can still do hard things at 47. 💪

I ran marathons in my 20s… but that was a LONG time ago. 😂

No time goal. Just finish, have fun, stay injury-free 🙏 and run for something bigger than myself. 💕

23 years with this guy! ❤️

Empty nesting is definitely an adjustment, but we are finding our new norm.

A little “you may not know” about us… we met at a party in St. Cloud before cell phones were a thing. 😂 We wrote our numbers on a piece of paper. Eric gave me his and I told him, “I don’t call guys. If you want to talk to me, you can call me.” Apparently, he called. 😂

David Gray was our favorite when we met, and one of his songs became one of our wedding songs — so his music will always take us back to the beginning.

23 years hasn’t been all ups. We’ve had plenty of real-life moments along the way, and we’re incredibly grateful for the close family and friends who have loved us, supported us, guided us and helped us get to where we are today. ❤️ you know who you are 🙏

We’ve raised two amazing boys, built a life and business together, had hard losses and amazing wins and now we’re figuring out this next chapter.

Life would definitely be a little too vanilla without each other. Eric may say it would be too vanilla w/o me! 😂 Thanks for always being up for the adventure, Eric. Here’s to whatever comes next! 🥂❤️ by @imwithbialke
