Reflecting back to a couple of weeks ago when I was invited to be the keynote and asked to engage in a fireside chat with Lindsey T. H. Jackson ( @lindseythjackson ) at the @uofwa Advancement team’s annual Women’s Day event focused on giving, gathering, and gaining.

The room was filled with women and women-expansive identities and allies, while the digital Zoom room was also filled to the brim with attendees.

The conversation was rich, honest, serious yet filled with humor, and the space was safe for vulnerabilities to be part of the container.

It’s been a minute since I’ve posted here.
If I’m honest, I’ve been sitting with when and how to re-enter this space in a way that feels intentional, especially in a year where so many communities are under threat.

Today felt right.

Every year, this day reminds us how history can distort truth.

While some still celebrate Columbus Day, Indigenous Peoples’ Day calls us to remember what was taken, and who continues to lead, resist, and restore despite centuries of erasure.

It’s not about rewriting history. It’s about telling it fully.
About honoring the original stewards of this land and unlearning the stories that made colonization sound like discovery.

Indigenous Peoples’ Day isn’t just a new name on the calendar.

It’s a recognition of truth — the truth that this nation was built on Indigenous land and Indigenous resistance.

Honoring this day asks us to see what was erased, to acknowledge what was taken, and to listen to what’s still being taught through Indigenous voices and leadership.

It took nearly fifty years from the original call by Indigenous Nations before the U.S. government formally recognized Indigenous Peoples’ Day in 2021.

That recognition matters.

But accountability requires more than symbolic change. It asks us to dismantle the systems that continue to cause harm and to center Indigenous sovereignty, leadership, and lived experience.

It’s hard to celebrate today. Not feeling the red, white and blue and the celebration of Independence Day along with all the fireworks and celebrations of the 4th of July.

Hard to feel patriotic when so many freedoms are being limited or removed.

Instead, I’m deeply thinking about my community, and other communities that are severely affected by the current political landscape.

As I’m at the airport heading out internationally, my heart and spirit is with all those out protesting today.

The sheer amount of rights current being taken away from our LGBTQIA+ community, especially for our Trans community, and the inhumane treatment of our immigrant population is abhorrent.

We fight, we stand and today accross American, we are showing up for what is just.

I’m honored to Co-MC the first day with Pranjal Sharma at the Insights Lighthouse event at the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity. This is our second year as an official partner within the Cannes Lions Festival.

I find something powerful about being in a room with people who aren’t just reacting to change. They’re helping shape it.

As a Global Board Member since the inception of Insights Lighthouse, I’ve had a front-row seat to how this community comes together across industries, borders, and disciplines to ask better questions, challenge assumptions, and imagine what’s next.

That vision, set by founder Dr. Liubov Ruchinskaya and fueled by an engaged global community, is what keeps me coming back. At a time when it’s easy to chase trends and surface conversations, this forum was built differently to create space for deeper thinking, richer dialogue, and cross-industry collaboration that drives meaningful progress.

In just a few days, we’ll gather at Cannes Lions to continue that work together, not because it’s about showcasing the latest trends, but because it’s a gathering of people driving meaningful change. by @inclusionequals
