As the National Round Table on Inclusive Education wrapped up, Andrea Randon, Co-Interim Executive Director of Inclusion NB, reminds us that inclusion must be more than a principle. It must be reflected in practice.

ā€œInclusive education is about so much more than what happens inside a classroom. It's about
who belongs, who gets to participate, who gets to learn alongside their peers, and who gets to
imagine a future filled with possibilities.ā€

"I believe New Brunswick has an extraordinary opportunity ahead of us. We have the history.
We have the legislation. We have policy. We have decades of experience and research. And,
importantly, we have the lived experience of students and families. What we need now is
renewed collective commitment and a willingness to move from intention to action." by @inclusionnb

During the Opening Plenary, at the National Round Table on Inclusive Education hosted in New Brunswick, Jamie Cooke of Inclusion International shared this powerful reflection from a conversation with his daughter about her lived experience.

ā€œShe [his daughter] said to me a while back, ' The school system is just not built for children who are neurodiverse, and I said, ' Well, I don’t think the school system is built really for any children. And actually, we are seeing that space of forcing children to meet the system rather than having a system that matches the learners.ā€

Our Moncton team recently attended the City of Moncton’s Social Inclusion Summit at the Delta Hotels Beauséjour.

The summit brought together residents, organizations, service providers, businesses, volunteers, and community leaders for a day of workshops, conversations, cultural performances, and food from around the world.

We shared ideas, learned from others, and celebrated Moncton’s diversity, helping to shape a more inclusive community. 🩵

Thank you to the City of Moncton and the event sponsors, Cox & Palmer, Kindred Home Care, for making these opportunities possible! by @inclusionnb

Over two inspiring days, Inclusion NB’s Board of Directors came together to deepen their understanding of our history, reconnect with the values that have shaped our movement, and strengthen our collective leadership for the future.

Together, we explored where we’ve come from, why our work matters, and how we can continue building a stronger, more inclusive New Brunswick.

Our Board also participated in a PATH session focused on strengthening board leadership excellence - building the shared knowledge, alignment, and leadership capacity needed to guide Inclusion NB’s movement forward.

When we understand our history, lead from our values, and move forward together, we strengthen not only our organization, but the movement for inclusion across New Brunswick.

---

Last Friday, September 18, our Moncton office had the opportunity to participate in an information session as part of Welcoming Week in Dieppe. This event brings opportunities to ask questions, learn about services available in the region, and speak directly with organization representatives.

It was wonderful to connect with community members and local partners, share information about Inclusion NB, and raise awareness of the programs and supports we offer to individuals with an intellectual or developmental disability and their families.

Thank you to the City of Dieppe and organizers for welcoming us and creating these opportunities for organizations to connect, collaborate and build stronger, more inclusive communities! šŸ¤ by @inclusionnb

šŸ¤Coming together for collaboration!šŸ¤

Our Family Support, Transition to Adult Life, Transition to Work, Employment Assistance Services, and Case Management (Post-Secondary Support) teams came together this week in Moncton for a retreat focused on connection and collaboration.

By bringing our teams together, we can strengthen communication, share knowledge and best practices, and build stronger connections across our programs. Most importantly, this collaboration helps Inclusion NB provide better, more coordinated support to individuals with an intellectual or developmental disability and their families. by @inclusionnb
