POSTS STORIES REELS

Hi! Usually this blog is all about the food. But there’s some new faces following, and it’s been quite a while since I’ve done an introduction. So I thought I’d reintroduce myself and tell a little about Incredibull Eats!

My name is Meghan, and I’m based in the “Bull City”(Durham, North Carolina). I love where I live for so many reasons, including the super dynamic food scene we have here!

I also have a deep love for learning about other cultures and places, and I believe that food can be a great way to begin making connections. As someone with an ongoing case of wanderlust, I’m intrigued by the places I haven’t been yet (and the food there, of course!)

I started this blog in the wake of the pandemic, after hearing stories from restaurant owners and seeing the lengths that many restaurants were going to just to survive. I wanted to help advertise local, family run restaurants, especially those in our international or diverse communities.

Today, I still love capturing my favorite eats and supporting local restaurants, in the Bull City and beyond!

Feel free to introduce yourself in the comments below too. What’s a favorite spot for global eats I should try?

It might be November, but I’m still craving @nctataco ‘s spooky vibes. 👻

TaTaco has some great atmosphere (especially at Halloween), but they also have some tasty Mexican eats. The flavors were so unique here— smoky and full and spicy all at once. I loved the street style quesadilla with chicken mole and Oaxacan cheese. Plus table chips that come with bean dip? Yes please!

Watch to the end of the video for a scary surprise 👀. And go eat a meal at TaTaco!

I tried @saap_cary for the first time yesterday, and it was honestly one of the best places I’ve eaten in a while (and that’s saying something… I eat a lot 😅).

SAAP offers Laotian flavors in a beautiful, peaceful environment. I tried the Khao Poon Gai, a traditional Lao coconut and red curry soup, with chicken, vermicelli, and lots of aeromatic spices. The broth was so flavorful, and it was an absolutely perfect anecdote for a long day.

If you haven’t tried SAAP, check them out! I was so taken with the food that I didn’t do a great job capturing their atmosphere, but I hope to be back soon!

A new Yemeni coffee shop has opened in Durham, and it’s fabulous!

@qamaria proudly features coffee sourced from Haraz, Yemen. They offer standard coffee favorites as well as a wide variety of Yemeni drinks.

Some of my favorites so far at @qamariadurham include the Mufawaar, a rich Yemeni coffee full of cream and cardamom, and the Iced Pistachio Latte (which was so creamy and full of flavor, without being overly sweet). Qamaria also has a great collection of sweets and pastries, including some from @larecettepatisserie! I especially loved the Honeycomb, which was a soft, warm, cheese-filled bread drizzled in honey.

Go try out a coffee or pastry in Qamaria’s cozy space! They’re a great addition to the area, to say the least. #durhamnc #yemen #coffee #newspots #pastries by @incredibull_eats

The vibes at @aaktunnc are one of a kind!

This Tulum, Mexico inspired restaurant features a peaceful coffee bar, with lush greenery, rich drinks, and tasty pastries. When you head to the back of the space, Aaktun fully lives up to its name (which means “cave”). Then there is the food 🤤. This time, I had the chroizo papi sando, which was served on crispy bread, topped with saucy, creamy cheese, and accompanied by the crispiest tater tots.

Aaktun is one of the spots that makes Durham’s dining scene standout. Go experience it!

Still thinking of this lovely coffee and this dreamy place— @aaktunnc! Located in #durhamnc, Aaktun is a coffee spot and restaurant. They also turn into a fun bar at night!

Owned by James Beard semifinalist Oscar Diaz, the food at Aaktun is super unique and delicious, to say the least. The atmosphere in Aaktun also captures you immediately. There’s nothing quite like having a coffee or a brunch in one of the lush nooks of their Tulum-inspired space.

Check out my story for more shots of this cool Durham spot!

I was able to try the new-ish @maybakery.cafe in Raleigh recently, and it was wonderful!

Mây Bakery and Cafe specializes in Vietnamese favorites, like Bani Mi or phô. They also have some pretty impressive pastries and drinks! I came for just a drink and a sweet treat after already eating dinner, and I definitely regretted not being able to order more.

The atmosphere at Mây captured me immediately. The bakery was lit up beautifully at night, showcasing colorful art and a small tree (yes, there’s a tree inside, in the middle of the cafe, which I sat under as I ate. So peaceful!) As a side note, I loved that they had Halloween decorations up too 🙂

But Mây is so much more than beautiful decor! I got an ube cheesecake, which was creamy, perfectly cooked, and not overly sweet. I also tried the ginger date latte, and it was such a creamy and flavorful drink!

I’ll definitely be back soon to try out more in this atmospheric cafe. There were so many intriguing drinks and coffees alone to try! Have you been? Let me know what you thought in the comments 🙂

I recently got back from a food tour through the Balkans! Through the Balkans Real Food Adventure with @intrepidtravel, I was able to visit five new countries (Croatia, Montenegro, Albania, Kosovo, and Macedonia) and experience what is perhaps one of the most beautiful regions of the world.

I was definitely never hungry, eating everything from jufka (Albanian pasta) to burek and other freshly made pastries. We ate in local homes and restaurants, learning from people who had great pride in their family recipes and traditions. We were also able to see so much beyond food, touring both historic sights and modern city streets.

Tradition and modernity create an interesting mix in this region, and I feel lucky to have had a small taste of the rich culture here ❤️.

Have you been to @momosmaster_chapelhill? Specializing in Himalayan and Nepali dishes, this gem is tucked away right off Franklin St. in downtown Chapel Hill.

The centerpiece of this spot is perhaps (as the name would suggest) the momo, or Himalayan dumpling. They offer many interesting varieties, including dessert momos filled with Nutella! I tried the Sizzler Momos, a steaming plate of flavorful noodles topped with classic Kothey dumplings. So yummy, and so fun to eat!

Momo’s also offers other classic Nepali dishes, including chole puri and Nepali chicken. We tried out the Tikka Masala, and the sauce was super creamy and flavorful!

If you haven’t tried out this spot yet, make sure you go! It’s a great place for an affordable and highly satisfying meal.

I was invited to try a new food truck in town… @smotherednc ! This cute mini truck serves up decadent Belgian chocolate on tap.

I love Smothered’s unique concept, and their product is truly delicious! The strawberries were giant and fresh, and they were covered in a generous portion of super creamy, liquid chocolate. The chocolate was so rich and tasty! To say I was impressed would be an understatement, and I didn’t seem to be alone in that sentiment. As we sat enjoying our strawberries, people passing by actively commented things like “ohhh, so good, right??”. I definitely agree, and I wish I could’ve eaten more!

Follow @smotherednc here on IG to see where they’ll be next. Their cute truck is one of a kind, and available throughout the Triangle! I know I’ll be back to try more of their delicious chocolate.

I loved getting to try out @booksandbeans in Rocky Mount, NC! This cozy spot has lots of books to browse and borrow, as well as tasty coffees and café fair.

I tried out one of their specials, The Pinwheel, which had a spiral of caramel and maple on top of foamy milk and espresso. I was also intrigued by some of their other features, including a butterscotch chai and fried ice cream. Yum!

Books and Beans also serves up a variety of sandwiches, many with fun literary names. I tried The Great Gatsby, which was a tasty turkey sandwich on sourdough.

This spot was the perfect dose of (much needed) relaxation! Full of sunshine, good reads, friendly staff, and tasty eats… what more could you ask for?
